How many is too many?! I'm counting 7 at the moment plus 3 flower girls. Will that just look ridiculous / be hard work?! X

Personally I think that is too many, it seems like less of an honour if you invite lots of people. My friend was one of ten bridesmaids last year and said she hardly got to do any jobs to help the bride on the day as so many other girls were around.

On the other hand, it does seem to be more common to have lots now and you should totally do what you want on your wedding day.

Well...I think it could be expensive and a lot of work. Also, you need to consider who will pay for their hair & makeup on the day, and where that will be done. If you're getting ready at home or even a large hotel room you will struggle to fit them all in.

    I've got 10!

didn't want to leave anybody out for the sake of a dress and I really like the look of a lot of bridesmaids!

I've got my best friend, step sister, SIL2B, 2x sisters as bridesmaids. Then my Oh's niece, my baby niece, my daughter and best friends 2 little girls as flower girls. The more the merrier :-) xx

We have 4 bridesmaids & a flower girl - when you factor in the cost of dresses & flowers it is alot without starting to consider shoes, hair & make up.

Plus more people to try & please x

I would say have as many as you want, as long as you have the budget and the organisation skills!!

    Ask yourself this:

    1. Do they all get on? If not, you could have some difficult moments

    2. Are they all people you foresee being there for you for a long time? Fly by night friends do not make good bms

    3. Do you need them or are you just trying to make a splash?

    4. Are you having some because you don't want to offend them?

    5. If you had no choice but to cut down the number, who would you lose?

If you answered the last question quickly, you don't need that bm ?

Make sure you choose them for the right reasons xxx

I think that's way too much! It should be the people that are most important to you. I'm having two, my Sister and Sister in Law. My two brothers are giving me away so will be in matching suits and one best man. Easy!

Sorry to go slightly off topic but does the amount of groomsmen and bridesmaids have to be the same? We will have 3 bridesmaids, 1 best man and 1 usher (my brother).

    xXx

Just getting my 3 adult BMs to measure themselves for a sample dress has been a bit of a job so I dread to think if there were 7! I have 3 adults, 1 junior and 2 flowers girls which is more than I expected to have but am happy with my choices. OH has 2 best men and 3 ushers at the moment. He keeps wanting to ask other people to be ushers but with about 80 odd people in the day I don't want the bridal party to be huge.

So will it be hard work - not if they are all on board with the plans and get on with each other. You could have 1 complete nightmare bridesmaid or 10 fantastic ones. Only you know your friends and family. I think it will only look ridiculous if you are having a relatively small number of guests and so the bridal party outnumbers the 'normal' guests!
