Bridesmaids flowers???

MissJag, 28 May, 2014 at 17:09 Posted on Planning 0 13

I am getting married in November and have 4 little bridesmaids (ages 4 to 10). We are having a registry office wedding one day and family meal followed by a big party the following day for all friends and extended family. I want my bridesmaids to wear the dresses on both days as I want everyone to see them (and my dress). However I am worried about their flowers. How will I keep them. Any ideas for something else they could carry, they are wearing blue and white.

Go for artificial then you can get them specific to your scheme and they'll last forever Smiley smile

Gerberas tend to last well. my mini miss winter was a bm not long after we married and she carried a single gerbera and it lasted for weeks!

I would vote for fake flowers too. Even my flowers were pretty beaten up after one day!

I've seen some lovely wands on Pinterest, just type bridesmaid wand and it comes up with loads! Not sure if this would be a bit baby-ish for the 10yo though, maybe she could have fake flowers or a little bag?

I never thought I would consider artificial flowers but I've been looking at some from Silk Blooms and really like them. http://www.silkblooms.co.uk/ I don't need mine to last but I like that they can colour match to whatever colour you like. We're hoping to have peonies at the end of August and apparently they're not at their best in August so think we're going to go for these. They seem slightly cheaper than real flowers too?

I got my artificial flowers from thebridesbouquet.co.uk and I think they're fab! My little sister (aged 11) has a smaller bouquet than mine (seen here as the smallest bouquet at the back and they are in my colour (Cadbury purple). You can get in touch with them and they should be able to make anything you need and at great prices too (this whole lot cost me just £75).

Another vote for the Brides Bouquet. I have my flowers for our Wedding in October and they are lovely. They do a wide range of things in all different colours so lots to choose from , and can be as cheap or as expensive as you make it. I got my bouquet , 3 adult bridesmaids , cake topper , buttonholes and some loose flowers for on the cake.

Over the Rainbow florist on here is fantastic and is making my bouquet. Wanted something I could treasure. I've seen pictures of the flowers for my bouquet and they look real.

Could they have wrist corsages rather than bouquets?

Another vote for fake. I'm getting silk flowers from Pink Lilac.

I've got two little 4 year old flower girls, and rather than flowers which I feared would take a battering, I have got them toy kitties to carry down the aisle. I am going to put big pink bows on the necks of the kitties. And I figured the toys will keep them quiet and occupied for a bit during the boring (for them) parts of the day.

I also contemplated giant balloons for them to carry, fairy wands, or giant lollipops.

I got a silk pomander & love heart with buttons & bells for my flowergirls to carry, I let them have a play to see if they liked them & they love making them jingle!! So I think I'm having jingly bells to accompany me down the isle lol, I got them from Dunelm mill, think it was £3.99 for the pomanders & £1.99 for the hearts. Good idea for the smaller ones to keep them entertained ?

It would depend if you'd still want the real flowers but as for other alternative, you could go for maybe a simple cupcake bouquet, DIY paper flowers or balloons Smiley smile
