Bringing the family over

SunnyYellowDecor627, 23 July, 2016 at 10:06 Posted on Planning 0 22

Hi there,
Me and my other half will be getting married next year, and we want to be surrounded by as many of our family as possible. We are looking for donations to help us fly them over, the full details can be found on our GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/2fz28k8d
Thank you for your time!

I thought that was for your African honeymoon! Hitched is a friendly place. Bound to be someone who would like to cut down their own guest list to help fund your wedding. Anyone?

This is a joke surely? We're all saving for our own weddings - pay for your own guests! And sort out your link.

Gee... why didn't I think of introducing myself to a really friendly and helpful wedding planning forum by asking it's members to pay for my honeymoon/to bring my guests over/god knows what you are ACTUALLY asking for the money for.... nice try, now go troll somewhere else... watch the door doesn't hit you in your tight arse on the way out!

Well now my wedding is over I could contribute.

Oh hang on no I already give to other charities and the nice Spanish man that sits outside the supermarket playing for money.

Clever idea tho . Get strangers to pay for your wedding and honeymoon.

No Jayne, it really isn't... In fact I'd call it a PPE..... no, not Personal Protective Equipment, though the OP might need some if I ever met them, but a Pi55 Poor Effort!! ?

".Hi Stuart, you cheeky ****!! Why in God's name would we help pay for a total strangers family to come over when we are all busy saving for our own weddings? And by the way, I checked out your donation page and nobody appears to be dying from a terminal illness, truth is you just want a £3000 honeymoon! On us! I sincerely hope this was meant as a joke coz if you're serious you really need to get a reality check."

The original post has been deleted but has same title however it looks like it was embellished with people's terminal illness.

Ahh I feel bad now. (Not!) Why didn't they say someone was dying!!!! So maybe it's not just the honeymoon. It's the bucket list too. Could at least come back to spin us more details and make it more entertaining don't you think?

I'm shocked at the audacity of it, but also kinda impressed by just how brazen they are!

Always good to laugh I guess Smiley smile

Is it just me thinking that £3k is actually quite reasonable for an African Safari? ?

This is ridiculous - I mean, firstly wouldn't your family just save to attend the Wedding? Or wouldn't you have it nearer them?

Secondly, if your Wedding is in a year (lets assume 10 months) you only need to save £150/month each to pay for it. That's not so bad, really.

I love that it's on UK Bride too though and those responses - I thought it might have been genuine up until then!

Bloody hell - this is beyond cheeky.

Their smug faces on the page annoy me.

Assuming it's even them. Could be someone who nicked that link for their post. Or not. I wish the other post on Uk brides hadn't been deleted before I found it. Seems to have been some mention of people's terminal illness on the other post too.
