I was given a horrible polyester and foam sling at A&E on Friday and I'll be seeing an ortho surgeon at the fracture clinic tomorrow. Do you think I might be offered something better? I could cope with the actual sling if my ar wasn't so exposed. I've got no plaster or support on my elbow and I'm terrified of knocking it when I out, or even just at home. I have a massive swelling underneath where the sling sits on my wrist as all the weight is on it.

Any experience? ?

    ? I really did!

I have to admit I was a bit taken aback when surgery was mentioned, I had no idea it was that bad! I just need to hope there wont be pins involved. ?

Thanks for all your advice xx

I totally sympathise, i fractured my left elbow just over a week ago and it was agony. Luckily I don't need an op! I did it when iceskating. I thought it was ok and had to drive home. Now I'm off for 6 weeks and I think my manager is going to have kittens lol!!!

Eek! Sorry to hear you're going to have an op but glad that they've managed to get you in so quickly. Hope all goes well and that you're back up to full knitting strength very soon. ?

Ah Mrs Magic sorry to hear about your fall and now needing an op. Just wanted to say, I am in Liverpool as well so if you need anything doing in preparation or after the op, even if it's just some dinner dropping off to your Mum, I'll be more than happy to help! Take care.

Oh dear Mrs M, I really feel for you having broken my elbow too. Sadly, a keen 'first aider' moved my arm out straight at the scence (I fell off a horse) so I had to have an op to insert a huge amount of metal. I had too have some of it removed and have kept it. I was going to make some jewellery with it lol!

I hope the op goes well. I wasn't plastered (welll not on that occasion!) just in a sling. I had to start to move the joint a week or 2 after the op so as not to let it heal at a 90 degree angle IYSWIM.

It's as strong as ever although I can't stretch my arm out fully. I think that is because of the damage done moving my arm at the time.

    Good luck xx

Ah, poor you. Rotten luck but good that the operation is happening in the not too distant future. Best of luck!
