Brooch Bouquets

ShropshireLass, 18 September, 2013 at 12:07 Posted on Planning 0 9

So this is probably the only thing I've been decisive on from the very start of my planning, is having a brooch bouquet! A friend who has her own crafty business is going to make it for me and we'll both be collecting brooches over the next few months.

My question is, to those of you have had a brooch bouquet did you match it to your colour scheme or was more a bit of anything goes? We aren't having a colour scheme as such as I can't decide on one so the only thing in uniform colour will be champagne chair sashes. We're having fairly colourful flowers for centrepieces and mybm dresses aren't one block colour either. Basically, I just wondered if matching the bouquet to me & my personality rather than the wedding (if tht makes sense) would look ok or should I try and pick colours that will occur throughout the day at the venue/church etc..

Well done if you can decipher that load of random rabble....I've confused myself even more writing my thoughts out!!

Mine matched my colours, black, pink and purple. Those colours are "me" anyway, which is why we chose those colours for our wedding (colours/theme were chosen around my tattoos)

I matched my colour scheme - it was royal blue and this is my bouquet:

Pic isn't great as I'm at work and can't access all of them from here - there's more in my report (link in sig). I had it as my something blue but I did struggle to get the colours I needed so I ended up with a lot of white in it as well.

Thanks for your replies! I have to say, I love both your bouquets!!! They're stunning!!

As we're not having a specific colour scheme, I'm going to try sticking with a champagne base colour using a few hints of colour picked from bm dresses & flower centrepieces just so the whole day doesn't look too thrown together (although, that's me all over...just thrown together!)

    Thanks again! Smiley smile

I think pretty much anything goes but a theme is useful. Gold colours are harder to find than silver though

My colours were black and white, I matched mine but did have a few coloured ones thrown in.

I'm making mine and planning to have a range of colours but mainly going for purples and blues with a couple of pinks and greens that are almost purples/blues if that makes sense! all with a base of silver. My wedding will probably be mainly silver with either blue or purple or lilac somewhere! Short answer is I haven't properly decided yet!

I am having silver diamanté and pearl brooches etc so quite a neutral colour base. This suits my wedding though as its all pastel colours. I recommend EBay for brooches, and using hair pins as space fillers x

Clip on earrings, pearl beads or crystal beads from old necklaces and rhinestone buttons also make great gap fillers

I originally planned on doing a jewel bouquet but then changed my mind but if beads are also a good way of getting the colours and are easy to craft into little pieces. I've attached a few pictures of some pieces I did with pearl beads, AB Crystal beads and some pave crystal beads. Didn't take long to do but my fingers were a bit tender from all the wiring.

Hi All! I love these photos of brooch bouquets, they are great! And I think the more colourful ones look really good, especially contrasting with a white dress.

I was the same, when I got engaged at the start of this year the first thing I knew that I wanted to make was a brooch bouquet. I also planned on making my bridesmaids smaller versions too, I bought loads of cheap brooches mainly from ebay for about £1 each. I've wired them all up and have been spending the past few months experimenting with silk flowers/foam flowers and no flowers to try and bunch them all together and get the shape right, but it is much much harder than I thought it would be! I think it is just going to take much more patience, but now I am wondering if I really do want to make 4 BM's ones too!

I also started trying on dresses for the first time at the weekend, and I like a lot of embellishment and beading on the dress and it's now making me wonder if the sparkle of the brooch bouquet will be too much with the sparkle on a dress?

Its annoying me even more because my OH said to me I was getting ahead of myself by buying all the brooches too early (I was just excited and wanted to get started!) before I knew what the rest of the wedding would be like, and now it seems he may have been right! And thats never good ;-)

Sorry for all the rambling, this has been going round in my head all week and feels good to get it out!
