*BT* *PP* baby names

LalaC1988, 22 June, 2014 at 17:17 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 25

Been talking about baby names a bit today and wondering what everybody else has on their either one day list or what you already have.

I find boys names hard to pick so I know I'll end up having a baby boy got baby girls names until their out of my ears.

Florence

Sophia

Matilda

Only reservation I would have is I hate flo that's a name for a ladies area round here and 'soph' I'm just not a fan lol maybe I would have to teach my children to respond to just their full names.

Tried to think what letters I needed in title if I'm missing any please educate me!

I found boys names easy, and girls names hard. Possibly as I could never imagine myself having a girl, so never put much thought into it.
I also only seem to like names that end in 'ey'.
I have 2 boys, Casey and Jacobey (also known as Cobey, Jacob, Jay, Jake).
If my youngest had been a girl, he'd have been Darcey, but glad I never got to use it as it has become too popular for my taste.
Never going to happen, but if I was to have another, it'd be Brodey, for boy or girl.

Do you know your family tree? You might get inspiration from that. Most of our names have been 'handed down' - we've all been named after someone. (though we had a few Fanny's in ours - don't think they will go any further!)

We have talked about this a couple of times.

GIRLS: Orla or Molly / Mollie.

BOYS: Gabriel -it is hard to find boys names!

For middle names maybe Rose (his Mum's name which would be hard for me to avoid). Michael or James -these are family names for both of us.

We have discussed it a few times but nothing set yet as we don't plan on having children for a while.

Girl names we like are Elsie or Faye.

Boy names we like are Thomas or Martin.

I really really love River for a little girl. You could pair a unisex name like River with an ultra feminine middle name and it'd be so cute i.e. River Rose. Kelly Clarkson got there first though. I also love Mabel, I think old lady names are coming back in in a big way.

I love Felix & Dexter for a boy.

I like names that are non traditional (ie not in the top 50) but still names. Yes, I class River in that category.

Rosalyne! Beautiful name. Couldn't risk having it as a first name though as then your child would just get call 'Roz' which just reminds me of Grange Hill for some reason?

Iolanthe Grace is pretty. Is that pronounced ayo-lan-they or yo-lan-they?

Draven is nice, makes me think of The Crow (great film!)

When the time comes we love Isabella for a girl and Zachary for a boy. I also love Lily as it's my favourite flower but it's soooo popular I'm not sure I'd choose it now. We'll see how things are when it happens I guess.

    Boys - Jude, Thomas, Benjamin

Girls - Sophia, Eliza, Luna. My Nan's middle name is Betty because her parents couldnt spell Elizabeth, so Eliza (as well as being my favourite ever musical character) is a play on that.

My niece is Eliza Smiley smile my favourite name was Ruby, after my great-aunt, but when I changed my surname I changed my middle name as well and gave it to myself. I've never wanted kids, but I've still thought about names, partly for pets and partly just cos.

That's how you pronounce the opera so I'm guessing it's right. (I work in theatre and the opera customers love to correct our pronunciation if we get it wrong.)

My late great-uncle was Willoughby - Willoughby Woodward in fact. I think that's amazing. I tried to persuade my brother into it before he knew they were having a girl, but he wouldn't have any of it.

My OH has a first name Valentine in his family history and he loves it as a name for a boy. I'm not so keen.... surely little Valentine would be a bully magnet?

Yeah, I think maybe. You could use it as a middle name, or give the kid the option of going by his middle name I guess. Lots of my family go by their middle names, including my dad. I'm so glad I don't have to worry about this stuff in real life!
