Bucket List

Mrs C, 24 September, 2011 at 22:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 26

Got chatting with some friends tonight and we got onto the subject of Bucket Lists... a list of things you want to do/achieve before you die.

So... what's on your list??

We too are going to move abroad, but it's going to be a while coming as OH is signed up for 22years in the military first.

I'd like to have children, i'd be keen to have more than one too.

I'd like to be in NYC over Xmas and New year (I'm currently working on this).

I'd like to own a sports car - but don't think I will ever achieve this. I am not young, free with no commitments and have the chance to buy one - but have declined in favour of a practicle 4x4!

I'd also like to see more of the Carribean - no specific places, just as much "us" time as we can get in.

2 years ago i'd have said that being in a 6 figure earning job was important, but since meeting H and taking a good look at my friends who earn that and considering what they have given up to get there - well, i'd settle for £50k and happiness, i'd settle for family time, i'd settle for a medicore house which I have time to live in.

    Mine would be;
    *Shoot a gun
*Visit a beautiful country/island, relax and be waited on hand and foot
*Further my career (although I'm not quite sure how yet!)
*Throw a drink over someone in a fit of anger!
*Visit New York at christmas/New Year
*Own a pair of designer shoes/designer handbag
    *Meet an actual celebrity

(I do realise that this list makes me seem very shallow, but the 'big things' I'm still working on!)

The simple but most important ones are to have healthy intelligent children, and live a happy comfortable life with H. The bonus ones would be Xmas in new york, learn to sodding drive, run some kind of marathon for charity, see a tornado- from a safe distance! Travel to as many places as I could possible fit in and afford, go on a girly holiday. Nothing too extravagant!

There are a few countries i would like to visit and if im given a limited amount of time, i would love to visit those places with my friends and family, hopefully leave them with some great memories.

my mum has a close friend who is very unwell and he decided to do a bucket list. he told his wife to write a list of everything she wanted to do with him and he would write a list too. But they both said that they had done everything together that they ever wanted so instead of making a list of things to do, he wrote a list of people he wanted to thank for having an impact on his life!

there is a group of them who have know each other for over 30 years and have a reunion every year and this years he told them this story and thanked them for all their years of friendship, it was really emotional!

Before I had kids I always wanted to spend Christmas in NY.

That's not going to happen now, so i'd settle for going at any time, as long as I get to go...

This is hard... some of the things I want to do before I die are have four children, two girls, two boys preferably twins! Travel more - really want to go to Japan, mexico and see more of Canada and USA, also back to Oz and New Zealand. I want to write a novel, get a couple of promotions in work, get my silver acorn and also I plan to live to 100. There are probably more to add if I kept thinking.

    Quite a strange assortment:

Witness the Kop singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', preferably when I'm in the middle of it.

    Experience Thanksgiving in America.

Renew our wedding vows in Las Vegas - the tackier the better.

Visit LA and see the famous Hollywood sign, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, the Rockwalk Rock Museum, The Viper Room, Whisky A Go-Go, Rainbow Bar and Grill, the balcony from Pretty Woman, Mulholland Drive and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

    Go to New York.

    Go on a cruise.

    Visit the set of Eastenders.

Have at least one child and to be a good mother

Visit NYC and do the SATC Tour and movie scene tour. I would love to stay at the Plaza too.

Visit LA and do lots of touristy things and as Mooey said, visit the Rainbow Bar & Grill. I would love to stay at the "Reg Bev Wilsh".

Write a novel (even better to get a novel published)

Gain a decent understanding of photography and become good at it

To get down to 10 stone at some point in my life!

To visit Australia and meet my cousin's beautiful family (she now has 7 children)

Ha, you've reminded me I did this once ? am rather embarrassed about it now - I was pretty young and it was to the boyfriend of my best friend who was cheating on her while she was pregnant. So much deserved, but the moment was kind of ruined by said friend running to him to clean him up!

There are some fab things on here, which are mainly making me want to go travelling!

    Mine are:

Travel for a few months - Done

Visit: Mexico and New York - Doing next Spring!

    Have a family - Trying...

Buy a forever home with my H - Done

See the Grand Canyon - Done

Cross the Golden Gate Bridge - Twice! (Sore feet but very special!)

    Write a book - I keep starting...

Own a mobile home - especially when we have a family ?

There are also lots of other places I'd like to visit - but NY and Mexico are my musts that are still outstanding. When possible, I'd love us to continue to have regular holidays abroad and see and try different things.

Overall though, I'd just like to live the rest of my life with the people I love, spending good times with them, and being there for the tough times too. The older I get, the more important my family and friends become, and the less important material / travelly things seem. Fluffy but true!

( Will add as I remember them!)

    Mine would be:-

    To retire to the country

To live in a community where people speak and care about each other

To get involved in some sort of charity work when I retire

Learn to swim - although I keep crossing this off my list cos I'm petrified of being in water

To teach what I do for pleasure at evening classes in a village hall somewhere

To learn how to breed orchids

To buy a greenhouse (when we move to the country!)

To grow all my own vegetables (again, when we move to the country)

To own my own donkey (again, when we move to the country!)

To drive all round the enitre coast of the UK and to visit every single major city in the UK too

    To holiday in the Hebrides

    To see the Chinese warriors

To see the sun set over Ayers Rock

To stand at the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong as this is something I've wanted to do since seeing 'Love is a many splendoured thing' when I was a child

To visit all the sites in Russia

To learn to drive a juggernaut

To go into a department store and let a personal shopper choose me an entire wardrobe to save me the hassle of weeks of looking for stuff to fit me as I'm so awkward to fit.

To own a house where we have more storage space than I need.

Hopefully one day, hold a grandchild in my arms

    Just adding that:

'To sell this house and downsize'

    Was never on my lis

Looking back, I think my list is doable - even the EE one. Hoping my friend who works there can get me on, as they don't do tours.
