Petrol for us more than anything.

OH and I lived in different towns 25 miles apart and when we moved in together he moved here as the schools were much better but so far no local jobs have come up so he's still working where he used to live, we're currently paying £180 a month on petrol as it is

I've just had a look at the calculator on the bbc website and apparently we'll be £200 better off.

    A

Just been on that calculator, our car and van tax, petrol is affected, and our on average alcohol consumption will be going up. Apparently by £94.

Everything else will remain the same, think its swings and rounabouts, if our petrol expenses gets out of hand we will look at saving money in an other ways so that it equals out.

We'll be over £300 better off apparently. (Don't drive or smoke and rarely drink, which is probably why.)

Interestingly I put in our details again, but as if we had a child, and the result was exactly the same. I then tried it again, with 1 child, and took out my income (as if I was staying at home) and this time it told me I'd only be £200-odd better off.

Why is it that myself and my H, both earning, no dependents are so much better off, but a one-earner family with a child will not benefit as much? That seems wrong to me.

I don't know if I made a mistake somewhere, but apparantly we'll be over £300 worse off.

    Fab ?

We would be £319 better off apparently - I'm guessing that most of this is due to increase in personal tax allowance.
