Budget (but good) photographer

Mrsskinkle, 28 December, 2013 at 23:20 Posted on Planning 0 6

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced photographer? I seem to either find cheap ones whose portfolio consists of cheesy/not very good shots, or the ones who are good are asking around £1000! I'm already over budget and I haven't even started :-/

Yes if you tell us where you are I'm sure you'll get loads of suggestions. Plenty of photographers do packages under that price. For example our package was the upper end but he started from around £400 I think.

What you might have to do is compromise on the amount of time they are there. Jemima mentioned about her Photographer doing a cheaper package and I'd imagine that is for less coverage than they have gone for. Is that an option?

As mentioned, do say which area you are getting married in. Although *some* photographers travel around the UK a lot, it becomes less likely if you photographer budget is very small..

Welcome to the forum......do hang around......

What you're finding is that you get what you pay for! In general the cheaper photographers might be less experienced/lower in quality, as you pay more you can expect better photography. There are possibly a few that slip through the net, so there is a chance of finding a good one that's cheap but it might take some digging. It is definitely doable to find someone within your price range but I would recommend being open minded about your expectations of the output

    Marianne speaks wise words.

Where is the wedding based and what is your budget? What style do you like? What are your priorities (getting ready, ceremony, reception etc).

Thank you for all your responses! I'm based in Suffolk but my wedding will be in Cambridgeshire. I'm willing to compromise on the time that they are there for sure. Our guests can take party shots, so I'm happy to settle for a few hours with a pro. I want something a bit different. I'm looking for some shots that are a bit different instead of the usual posed photos. Thanks again for your help!
