Budget Photography

Emilyw, 12 February, 2013 at 15:52 Posted on Journalist Seeking... 0 6

Hi.
My partner and I are considering starting up a photography business in the budget wedding sector.
We were just wondering what basic packages people would expect and for what price.
We currently do not have a portfolio with examples hence the budget factor.
We would be offering a very friendly and personal experience with high quality equiptment and photos.
Our current ideas are:
-Engagement session
-Full cover of big day, from bridal prep to 1hour after 1st dance
-Photo booth style session - approx 3hrs
-100 quality edited photos plus photo booth images
-Digital copies only.

What would you expect from a budget wedding photographer? How much would you be willing to pay?
Is anything missing? Is the lack of portfolio a deal breaker? how could we get around this?

If would be of great help to us for any relpies. Thank you for your time.

Do the first couple of wedding for free.

On a wedding you may (should) be shooting many different genres of photography, so maybe show a couple some of these examples like some portraits you have done.

    Portraiture

    Landscape/Architectural

    Product

    Documentary

    Flash

    And possibly a few more...

I would look at attending a wedding photographers business class.

If you ask random questions on any public forum you will get random answers.

Look for your local adult college for wedding courses - they won't teach you specifics of photography but will give you an idea of what to aim/look for and how to get started.

Get good quality equipment and practise.

Finally, you will either love weddings or hate them. Be true to yourself as it isn't a breeze - you are covering a once-in-a-lifetime event for many couples so make sure you are prepared. You need passion and a love of people to cover weddings.

The prices depend on the market and your goodwill. Some photographer deciding prices on the copy of photos and some the photographer take prices as whole packages. please mention your area so i can give much better advice for the prices. Sorry for Insufficient information.

    Thank You?

If thats the story given to you it isn't true. The data will still be on the hard drive although "may" need recovering. I had this a while back where my main drive and reserve external Hitachi drive both "gave up" on the same day (Usually I have dvd back ups as well although hadn't done this<although was about to>Smiley winking The images were all recoverable, although it cost me £150 through a local recovery company....I learnt that lesson hard and have since ensured more quickly that I triplicate my copies....
