BUDGETS!?

kcole83, 3 November, 2009 at 21:11 Posted on Planning 0 2

I recently just got engaged and have already got so many ideas and plans in place but the one thing I'm struggling with is where to start with planning a budget??? It's seems hard to me to just pick limits for each area as it seems like something you have to just go with as your researching!?

Am I right, did your original plans change a lot along the way?

We had 2 friends who got married last year and I knew how much their weddings cost (helped a lot with my best mates wedding) so I had an idea of what different things cost - or at least what they'd paid.

I then decided on a figure lower then all theirs that I felt remotely comfortable with paying with the idea that I had slightly over-priced everything so I woudn't have any nasty surprises but the total should be less. We also have a £1000 contingency on there so hopefully that should also cover any nasty surprises. I also got the end figure to a one I was comfortable with (well - not entirely comfortable, it is only 1 day, but you get what I mean) ?

Now everything I look for I try ansd get under budget and so far - so good! Only one thing over budget and that was the registrar costs (i'd seen one figure on their website but when the bill came in - it was £50 more).

As for plans, ours have actually exceeded our expectations! ?

Well we sat down and picked exactly what we wanted then finally agreed on a budget but we had got the costs of the hotel etc through so it was quote easy to work out though I'm only into my first month of planning and I'm already over budget !! but I haven't taken off what our parents are paying for but my budget is £20,000 my dress and the bridesmaids have been pretty expensive but it's once in a lifetime so surely worth all the cost!! x
