Budgets for string quartets

Blackkat, 31 May, 2010 at 15:25 Posted on Planning 0 8

We were going to have an ipod playing during our drinks reception but I'm now hoping that I can find a string quartet (or smaller group) or harpist tp play for 2 hours. We've been quoted £350 for a string duo for the 2 hours. Does this seem like a reasonable price?

Thanks

Yep seems good to me. I'm not having one now but had quite few quotes and for a duo was quoted min 300 and max was 460 for 2 hours.

Def go to a local university's music dept, there are loads of students who will play for a fraction of the cost and who are more than willing to earn some extra cash

    I agree!

I'm currently doing a masters in performance and we're in a great string quartet charging £260 first hour then £100 every hour after this!

Contacting music colleges and uni's is the way to go!

    Hi,

Im having a trio as i couldnt afford the extra person!! and im paying 350.00 for three hours. One thing I found when looking was calling the ones in the yellow pages rathe rthan the ones that comeup on the first page of a google search were cheaper as I had some ridiculous quotes up to 900.00!!

Where abouts is your venue as I have a billion numbers for the string ensembles round by me

    Try www.arcosantimusic.co.uk

They have a Duo for £350! We heard them last week at a wedding fayre and they were fab. We just felt that the live music made such a difference when we visited our venue. It was nice to hear them where we will be getting married.

My daughter is having a jazz trio and I think they are charging £250 for entertaining whilst guests are waiting before the ceremony, during the ceremony and during the reception before the speeches. They saw their jazz trio perform at Centre Parcs and fell in love with them instantly!
