Building Reg help - changing the outside of a house

Viceroy, 24 August, 2008 at 19:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

We are currently looking at buying a house in a local greenbelt area, the house that we have seen is an 80s brick built house, we are not fans of the brick look and were thinking that the whole house would look totally different if it was painted.

Is this something that we would need to apply to building regs for? Has anyone done anything similar?

TIA

Just spoken to MrKJX, he is unsure about external changes (he doesn't have his booklets to hand - and it's not something that he has ever dealt with - he a Building Control Officer) - he says give your local Building Control a call - and also planning.

I guessed we weren't going to be neighbours any more ☹️ as the house on my road is back on the market.

Good luck in finding something else? - are you looking in the same area?
