Busy Weekend with Flash, if ya want a Nosy

FIONATS73, 21 March, 2011 at 11:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

We bought some 2nd hand gates before xmas which for such a large opening we dropped on they were totally black which was not nice and they needed some tender loving care.

So got my paint form work (as I work for a paint company) so that nice and free. So me and H started on Saturday early, they are completed well the left one is and the right one would have been if it had not been for the weather yesterday morning.

And this is our dogs watching us working Hard!!!

You were busy. They are nice but not as nice as your dogs. Beautiful! I really want a lab. Will be getting one eventually no matter what H says.

We have a lab who is one in 2 weeks and although I love dogs and had a lab growing up i was in 2 minds about the time commitment of having a dog but my OH won me round and it is honestly the best thing we did, I wouldnt be without my boy now!

Naboo - we've got an almost 2year old jack russell x springer. But I grew up with labs and would love one. Our house isn't big enough at the moment.

This is our dog Toby chilling with me today. I don't think he's relaxed enough. lol x

    Thank you Ladies,

Yes Naboo, they are Labs, Holly who is the chocolate is 3 in July. Amber who is fox red and is 1 in May.

H has always had labs, I have always had smaller dogs I grew up with Shelties. But have to say these 2 are fantastic so loveable and affectionate would not be without them

I love the fox red ones.

This is my mums yellow lab.
He's called Sam. He's a big brute of a dog but wouldn't harm a fly.

Yeah all the ones I have seen have black noses, but his did go a bit pinky over winter, it seems he has a seasonal nose colour!! I believe they call labs with pink noses and pink eye liner ( dont know the proper name for that bit) Dudleys, i think it is usually yellow labs that are dudleys so would cover fox reds too but i am no expert ( i am just a bit of a geek for reading everything lol) but i think they are more of a rarity and like I said ihave not seen a fox red with that colouring before thats why i checked she was a lab

Thanks for this Amber (the fox red) her Dad (George) was a fox red and her mum was Yellow can not remember her name without looking at the papers. H always said its a true Fox Red with a pink nose. Can not remember for the life of me if her dads was pink. Will have to ask H. Her pads are pink as well, its what gives her the charactor and so kissable lol

I know with Holly, (chocolate) she is really dark chocolate but her dad was black and her mum yellow. Which I found weird but when I looked it up found that this was today with the genes.

It would be interesting to see the information on the pink assests of Amber though if you dont mind

Well worth it, look on ebay or in the local paper we really dropped on with these. We where quoted 500 quid with the railings, and gates. But the got the gates for 60 quid. Will prob still have have to get the railings made up but still saved some pennies.

Fiona this is copied from Wikipedia under labrador retriever

'A colouration known as "Dudley" is also possible. Dudleys are variously defined as yellow Labradors which have unpigmented (pink) noses (LRC), yellow with liver/chocolate pigmentation (AKC), or "flesh coloured" in addition to having the same colour around the rims of the eye, rather than having black or dark brown pigmentation.[10][20]A yellow Labrador with brown or chocolate pigmentation, for example, a brown or chocolate nose, is not necessarily a Dudley, though according to the AKC's current standard it would be if it has chocolate rims around the eyes (or more accurately of the genotype eebb). Breed standards for Labradors considers a true Dudley to be a disqualifying feature in a conformation show Lab, such as one with a thoroughly pink nose or one lacking in any pigment along with flesh coloured rims around the eyes. True Dudleys are extremely rare'#

and this site has a page on it about dudley colouring, have a read https://www.labrador-retriever-guide.com/dudleylab.html

I was googling earlier too and the more I see pics of dudley labs the more I'm convinced that my mum's lab is one. He's got amber eyes too.
I don't have puppy photos on this computer, she got him while I still lived at home so have loads somewhere.

I looked after a friend's dogs not long ago while they were away.. 11 labradors!! (9 puppies and 2 bitches)

With their Mummy, a Fox red.

    Nibbling my jeans!

And the chocolate lab - Loved this old girl. She's since passed away Smiley sad She was getting slower and slower and getting kicked by a horse finished her off ☹️

I loved the smell of them first thing in the morning when I opened the door! Puppies always seem to have a weetabixy smell about them.

They're all huge now and 8 have been homed. They have kept a *** though.

Thanks Naboo, some georgeous pictures there.

I spoke to H and Ambers dad had a pink nose, so it runs in the family of fox reds by the looks
