butterfly theme

bluebutterfly, 21 September, 2009 at 17:43 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi everone,

Not getting married till April 2011.

Venue and church booked, initial guest list done.

Have sort of decided on a spring colours butterfly theme.

But would like it to be TASTEFUL, not OTT.

Can just see everyone starting to interfere, and it going mad....

Any suggestions?

Thanx BB

    Hi

I really like the butterflytheme and there is loads of help on this when you google butterfly themed weddings within google images.

Without going OTT you could have a couple of sparkly butterflys in your bouquet and flowers on tables if you are having these. Little things like sparkly butterfly slides or hair accessories for bridesmaids. Just little things like that.

You can go further but alot of it will depend on what you decide to have nearer the day.

    I Love this thread !!!! ?

I'm having a butterfly theme too next july and am really impressed with everyone's work. I was thinking bout having wire butterflies in the flowers and also maybe on the cake. I want it to be very subtle poss some in BM hair.

Has anyone got any ideas for using them in table decorations ?

You can also get butterflies which are exact images of real ones i.e., the same patterns and shadings as the different species of butterflies such as Red Admirals etc and they can be attached to small pot plants which can be used as centrepieces or to flower stems in a vase. I saw a photo in a wedding mag but can't remember which one recently where a Bride had real lavender plants in aluminium buckets as centrepieces with these butterflies attached. They looked just like they'd just landed!

Ironically (given my logo) I'm a bit scared of some butterflies too! - only the huge ones in walk through butterfly houses, but they are very beautiful. Just don't like things that fly too close eg birds that cat brings in, moths and ? daddy long legs!

Having said that, I get plenty of requests for butterfly stationery so here's some items I finished this week with a subtle amount of butterfly details on . . .

Hobbycraft does lots of butterfly things which could be added into flowers for table centres etc.

I have some earrings on my site which include butterfly crystals http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/earrings_bridal.html

Moths are definitely scarier! I don't like them! Nasty bugs!
