My best friend (Also bridesmaid!) came over today as she's lives quite far away at the mo as she's gone back to uni. Awesome day, we visited the Castle I'm getting married in so I could show her the room we'll be in and all the grounds etc then when we came back we decided to make a start on my button bouquet for some reason.. Anyway, I think it went well and it's almost finished, just needs a few more bits towards the bottom then the handle wrapping..

Ta-da!

(Pics aren't great with it being almost 11pm, will take some in natural light tomorrow Smiley laugh)

You may be able to spot 3 cat buttons.. For my boys ?

Just seen this BB, it's lovely and I am v. impressed at how creative and talanted you are - and also a wee bit panicky as I'm a week before you and haven't done half as much! ?

Thanks Jenny, I honestly wouldn't worry though, I'm too organised! Can feel a few months with bugger all to do coming up!

We're giving notice on Friday, then have nothing else to do for a while except Dress shopping and sorting hire suits out.. Which I guess are pretty important lol!

Ha ha, I'm just being a bit of a drama queen I think - I have the world's greatest CBM, she's been my best buddy since Uni, is super organised and is helping me out with so many things.

We've got the big things like venue and photographer done, and we gave notice just before Christmas; next thing for us is dress and suits too - although at the moment OH is just saying he doesn't want a morning suit - fine, but he hasn't decided what he DOES want! Hasn't quite finalised the number of ushers yet either! One of the guys from my running club thinks it's funny, one of my other friends from there is getting married a few months before me, and she's been uber-stressed from the moment she got engaged, and I'm totally at the opposite end of the spectrum. Every time he sees me he asks if I'e got anything else done, and the answer is usually no!

I'm really worried what I'll be like when it's all over and I have nothing to google/make/plan! I may have to be a wedding planner on the side of nannying lol!

Ah see, you're a bit quicker on the giving notice part - I think it will make it even more official once that's sorted as having a registrar is quite an important part of getting married lol! I have had my photographer sorted for about a week now, big relief!

I think we had a bit of a flurry of activity just before Christmas - had meetings with 3 TOG's in the space of a week and went to give notice then too! It is a big relif once it's sorted, isn't it? We like the first one we met and decided it would take something special to beat them - the other two didn't match up, so we sent them the cheque a few days before Christmas Day, and just had the confirmation letter of our booking two days ago - exciting!

I have just remembered, we were supposed to take our authorities to the registrars for the area where we're getting married (it's only about 8 miles away, ut is in a different borough, grr!), but both totally forgot about it - oops ?

Yeah massive relief once the tog's booked.. I managed a load of stuff after Christmas, well after new year really. Booked chair covers, car and tog so allll good Smiley laugh

Oooh will I have to do that then?! We're having to give notice in a different County.. Infact, country! to where we are getting married.

I would have thought so yeah. Although, our Registrar did say he could send it for us, but OH is a bit of a worrier so wanted to take it to the other Registrar's office ourselves so we knew it had got there. I would have thought the Registrar would tell you what you need to do when you go to give notice, but if it doesn't come up I would ask them.

Yeah I'm sure they'll let me know.. Although on the phone the other day the lady said "Right, see you Friday then" and I was like "Argh, what's your address?!". She sounded a bit dizzy, laughed and said "Ah yeah that'd help!" lol.

Things seem to be going way too good at the mo. So far this year have sorted all the above and been given a new job, waiting for something bad to happen ?

Got some better pics now in natural light -

And I've also made a start on a magic wand for my Niece who is my flowergirl. Need to pop some ribbon round the 'handle' yet, but it's a start.

They are beautiful and so unique! why not turn it into a business idea? i would buy one of those!

you could get a business start up grant/loan, work from home and advertise on wedding sites plus word of mouth.

    Hope your wedding goes well.

Patsy - I'm not sure it would be much of a profitable business but I have been thinking of doing the odd few if I can get the buttons for better prices Smiley smile

Spring - Give me a lil while Smiley winking I'd have ordered more supplies on Ebay if some twerp hadn't blocked my paypal temporarily saying he hadn't received his Uggs I sent a couple of days before Christmas - GRR!!

You don't know till you try hun, why not ask someone who works or owns a haberdashery business where they buy theirs? They must get them wholesale from somewhere lol! or google 'cheap buttons for sale' my wedding is on June 4th and I know my 10 yr old bridesmaid would just love a button wand... Whatever you do tho don't give up on something that good! You have a gift and it would be a shame not to share it.

Patsy - I'm going to give it a go once I can use Paypal to buy more supplies. I went to the NEC craft fair a couple of months ago and was able to buy buttons in bulk there for much cheaper than alot of places so I guess I'd have to find similar places to buy them in bulk closer to home.

Shelley - I've probably spent around £60 on buttons(!!) plus £8 for the bouquet holder, Few £ for the florist wire, offcuts of lace etc so it doesn't necessarily work out cheaper, although it will never die like a real flower bouquet.

I'm glad your going to give it a go! and you have a selling point right there, they don't die like real flowers plus they are totally unique, and who doesn't want to feel unique on her wedding day?

My mum is making button buttonholes too and for the groomsmen I found some blue and white footballs to go in them. Then I found a white skull and crossbones one (my sister thinks she is a pirate) for her bouquet! ?

    Hi,

Just had a thought, why not ask people to donate buttons? Everyone has spare buttons lol! or ask companies to do the same if they are haberdashers...old clothing may have nice buttons on, I sometimes find them in charity shops too.

    Hope some of this helps!
