Kellfi, 19 March, 2012 at 11:48 Posted on Planning 0 9

Does anyone have any tips for making these or have any links to reasonable priced ones?

Thanks in advance x

    Just finished my two!

Best thing to do is google button bouquet tutorial. I got hundreds of buttons in my colour scheme and some large glass pearls too and threaded them into floral wire. Took me months but well worth it.

This. I used galvanise wire as it didnt tarnish and I didnt want green wire.

Ditto, I used plain black wire and my hands were FILTHY afterwards. I really wish I'd used silver wire now like I did with my tiara but hey ho, once you've made so many stems it's hard to justify doing them all over again.

Is making them yourself the best way do you think?

    TIA

Making my own was best for me - each of the BM ones are personalised and I could play with mine until I was completely happy with it.

It's also so much cheaper. I mean...I've never made one before now, but simply by sticking to a colour scheme and adding a lot of stems, you can make it stunning.

I got about three bags of red buttons, one of white/pearl coloured, and about twenty big 10mm glass pearls. And floral wire.

Then I set all my red buttons out bag by bag and stacked them up in fours, then threes, and then twos. Then I stemmed them up (literally put all the buttons on the end of your stem cut from floral wire, biggest first, and bend the end with about three inches left, and then put the end through each button again and twist to secure) and did the same with white buttons. Then I did single stems of pearls, and had loads of tiny white buttons left over and lots of little pearls left over from my tiara, so I stemmed those together too.

    Then bunch together!

Buttons about £2-3 a bag from Ebay, pearls about £2, floral wire about £2. Time? About two months but I was pretty slow with it. About £15 in total really.
