Buttonhole question

*PrincessMeMa*, 18 June, 2013 at 09:21 Posted on Planning 0 3

I'm looking at getting buttonholes for the whole wedding party.. we have 30 additional people to get for

Now my questions are... would you get something different to the bridal party? or does it not matter

My bouquet is a dome of white carnations with dark leaves and lilly grasses. The MOB, MIL2B and Nans will wear corsages. Groom will have a double carnation buttonhole with leaves and lilly grass. BM, Usher and FIL2B will also have white carnation button holes with leaves and lilly grass but single

Would it be ok to get rest of wedding party single white carnation button holes?

Thanks x

Personally I probably would get something a little different, or make sure the carnations are a lot smaller, I think it'll look nice to have a clear distinction

    Thats what I thought...

how about doing all male bridal party double carnations... so they are all the same - Groom, BM, FIL2B, Usher, and then everyone else in singles... would this work?

The other idea I had was... all bridal party flowers will be bound together with Turquoise ribbon to match the turquoise theme... I could ask that the rest of wedding party be tied in white/silver ribbon

Another idea would be to go for standard single bloom carnations (which will be the size used in your bouquet) for the Groom etc., and, for the bridal party guests, buttonholes of spray carnations which have a smaller bloom so that you and your hubby and the main principle guests stand out from the remainder of the party.

The spray carnation buttonholes should work out cheaper too as you can get quite a few blooms from one stem whereas the standard have just the one large bloom. If you opt for them to have ribbon on, a white/silver ribbon for the guests is best so there are no clashes with the ladies outfits.

Providing them for all the guests coming to the wedding isn't normally done nowadays just in case you were wondering but it's purely down to personal choice and budget.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks... I know its not normally done thing anymore. We wasn't going too, but came into a little extra money, and to be honest we haven't really gone mad on flowers. Our florist bill is very minimal, and the button holes are cost around £1.50-£2.00 each... we're only needing an extra 30 on top of the bridal party

Thank you for suggestions... i will definatly ask for white ribbon on guest buttonholes, to save any awkward clashes of colour as you say!
