It's really up to you. Some give them to everyone at the church, others only the groom.

I've got them for groom, best man, ushers, parents, step-parents, brothers and grandparents.

    What Sarah-Kay said - it's your decision.

I'm only having buttonholes for the groom, best man, ushers, dads, grandads, nans and mums (although might go with corsages instead for nans and mums)

Personally I think it's a bit of an unnecessary expense providing them for all the guests, but it's each to their own.

Your florist should be able to advise but we're only having them for the groom, best man, ushers and OH's dad (I think). Don't some people have them for the guests too? I decided against this!

I wanted them just for the bridal party (groom, best man, ushers & the 2 dads).

Mil had other ideas & got her own ones for all the male members of her family. [shrug]

Basically it's up to you. Some people may turn up with their own.

We are providing them for immediate family only. Both our sisters are bridemaids, so groom, best man, page boy , ushers and both sets of parents.

Due to the low cost (£3 each) we are giving buttonholes to...

    Obvious -

Groom, Best Man, Usher, 2 Fathers

    But also

2 Grandads, my BIL and my 2 nephews (aged 18 and 15)

We're also giving both mothers and 3 grandma's corasages at £5 each

Around logistics - how are you giving them out? Will you tell the people they will have a button hole waiting for them and X will have them?

Apparantly its tradition that the groom has a flower taken from the brides bouquet as a buttonhole, whether that is true or not i dont know, and other than that its entireley up to you guys who has them. We are doing just the groom as it can work out expensive.

Yes, it is tradition to have a flower from the bridal bouquet for the Groom. In addition to the Groom, it's tradition for the Best Man, FOB, FOG, ushers or groomsmen in attendance. Mum's have corsages although if budget is restricted, they can have a "special" buttonhole.

If you have them for all the guests (which I always advise against as so many people don't like wearing buttonholes and don't expect them to be provided) you will need to have your usher hand them to each guest as they arrive at Church/Venue. My experience has shown that most blokes can't do this properly as they tend to end up chatting to other blokes rather than doing their job! So, unless you have really diligent ushers, it could end up with half wasted.

In the end, it's down to personal choice and budget.
