Buying a Wii

Mel_ODrama, 13 September, 2008 at 09:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

I'm probably being a bit thick but I'm planning to buy a Wii and I'm a bit bewildered about what I should look out for in any deals, and any accessories and games I need.

Can you tell me what you have/what you wished you had/anything you wished you hadn't bothered with?

TIA

We have the console, 2 remotes, nunchuck, 2 steering wheels, tennis racket and golf club.

I would highly recommend Mario Kart, its great fun!

We have a Wii fit and tbh i wish we had never bothered!

NOt featured in any deal i've seen but you should get another controller and nunchuck. Best way to do this is buy Wii Play. It has lots of little games to show you how to use it. Then you can buy the nunchuck seperately.

I bought hubby a wii for his birthday last month. I bought it from Tesco as I wanted to get my clubcard points too (worth getting as much out of your purchase as possible!). I ordered it from tesco direct and picked it up from the store a few days later. I bought the sports package which is fun (bowling, tennis, boxing, golf)

Just so that you know, it only comes with one wii controller. We bought an extra one so that we could play games at the same time. Hubby has also since bought mariocart (childhood thing apparently). He enjoys this and it came with a steering wheel too.

I also got hubby some 2nd hand games from GAME for £15 but they were buy one get one half price at the time so bought two. Don't really see the point of buying new games, 2nd hand the same thing to me (games are around £30 brand new i think).

We love ours it's good fun. We also have a wii fit which is good too.

Just to say also that I bought the sports accessories from GAMe which is a tennis racket attachement, golf attachment and baseball bat. No real purpose to them, just psychological really and makes it more life like. The set was £15 and you screw them onto the controller

If you do get the console from GAME just be wary of the GAMEcare insurance that they will try and sell you as well - its not as good as they make it out to be! The extra nunchucks and controllers are a must as the two player games are brilliant!

We ended up using ours to download all the retro games and play those more than any new ones though!

If I were you, I'd do some more research as you could be better off with another games console like a Nintendo DS as you're not sure what games or experience you're after. My sis bought a Wii and they only really use it at parties and personally I thought it was a bit rubbish.

As others have said, a 2nd controller and 2 nunchucks are a must!

A game I would def recommend is Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games, loads of fun games in that and we play it a lot.

Also to get your 2nd controller buy WiiPlay.

We also have Wario Smooth Moves which is great for getting to know how to use your remote and nunchuck and lots of fun to.

Had a quick search on hotukdeals and these two look good offers:

    https://www.hotukdeals.com:443/item/242004/nintendo-wii-console-with-free-mari/

    https://www.hotukdeals.com:443/item/238709/wii-console-wii-sports-2-wii-remote/

Havent worked out which is better but think it depends if you want the mario kart thing or not. you could always look in to how much they sell for on ebay and could sell it on?

Very jealous I want one but know I wont have the time to play it ?
