Hello one and all!
<<<<<<<<<I'm funkyjameseo, like my pondering portrait? ha (not quite the Emma Thomson lookalike Footlong)
Anyway it feels like I been a member of hitched for like ever but have never really said much about myself or my wedding. (simply did not feel anyone would be interested in little old me however i'm told that is not the case so here we go).
My OH and I have been together for nearly 5 years and are having a civil partnership next September I'm originally from Kent and OH is originally from Latvia and we now live together in London.
We would loved to be able to jet of and get hitched on a beach somewhere however the majority of the world is not really ready for gay weddings so we thought we would play it safe and get hitched in the city I love to hate London.
We either wanted to keep it small and splash out on a bit of luxury or just keep it very basic and informal BBQ type affair as personally I think these make the best weddings and so the venue search commenced we viewed about 10 venues in total and after weighing up all the pros and cons the crux of it boiled down to the weather, we did not want to risk planning an outdoor casual type bbq affair to have torrential rain on the day.
So the venue we booked was actually the first one we viewed.
The Dorchester Hotel Park Lane London
The reason we went with this venue as it had special meaning to us both, When I left school my dream was to to be a head chef at one of London's top hotels i.e The Savoy, The Ritz or The Dorchester and although I spent 8 years as a chef (and events in general) I decided it actually wasn't what I wanted to be doing the rest of my life. Soo if i'm not to work at the Dorchester then I don't mind settling on getting married there instead.....oh and my inner child wants to be able to buy Park Lane while playing Monopoly build a hotel on it and be able to say 'that is the hotel I got married in!! ha
Now about my OH- Although since moving to the Uk he has worked in event management (we both have mucho wedding experience) back in Latvia he worked in theatre, choreographer teaching models to walk gracefully down a runway in heels ha (in addition to theatre shows), however his first love is ballet he won a top scholarship and he and toured the world in various shows anyway this happened many years before we even met (but i have seen the pics of him in ballet tights as evidence!!) anyway back to the matter in hand, 'the room' we are having our ceremony in was designed but the original set designer of the sleeping beauty ballet (Oliver Messel) so the venue suits both our first loves just perfect.....next who is wearing the dress,,,,?
