cake finalisation! *flash* what do you think?

arnold2b, 13 February, 2011 at 17:19 Posted on Planning 0 15

Sorry this isnt the best quality photo! We had our cake tasting yesterday, and this is what its going to look like! With bride and groom on top.

I would like your oppions on the fillings - top to bottom we are planning on having lemon, chocolate orange, victoria sponge with strawberry filling, and bottom tier is chocolate with a baileys filling! Sounds yummy to me but what do you think?

Feel free to flash yours too!

Love both the cakes, they look yummy!

To arnold2b, whilst I love all the flavours you mentioned, some people don't like Baileys and I'm wondering if it might be best to have the victoria sponge as the bottom tier instead? The reason why I am saying this is because the bottom tier obviously gives the most slices and I think more people will like victoria sponge than will like Baileys. So I would probably do (top to bottom) lemon, Bailey's chocolate, chocolate orange and victoria sponge. Just a thought Smiley smile

Arnold2b, hope you don't mind me asking but how much is you cake costing and where are you getting it from?

We're getting married very near you in Highcliffe and its exactly what we are looking for.

Oooh thanks for all your comments! We have thought about having the layers in a different order, but werent sure that baileys filling would go with the white chocolate in the second layer. I think there will be enough people that want the more unsual fillings. (fingers crossed anyway).

The cake is being made to order by Sarah's Cakes in Romsey, she does whatever you want really and delivers to Christchurch and sets up for £25 which although its an extra cost I am willing to pay so that the responsibility of not dropping it is on her not me! Lol!

    Looks yummy!!!!

Here's mine - or at least the main idea for it; although we are aiming for the one on the left but not blue-ish...(carrot and chocolate tiers):

We are having 3 tier sponge cake- one chocolate, one vanilla and one coconut! I'm not keen on fruit cake and as we are moving away we can't keep it so plan to cut it up and feed our guests in the evening ?
