Weve asked for something like this but without the palm tree and with a plane! and some flags on the base board.

Going to meet the cake lady in the next 2 weeks to discuss final design.

Becky, the cake you are getting is similar to the cake we had. We got married in Thailand and so had our cake at our blessing...we wanted something un-traditional as we didn't get married in a traditional way!!! The Orchids are not only one of my favourite flowers but they are Thai so it all fitted in! My mum still has the sugar orchids in a glass dome!!

    Yummy!!!

I'm looking at something quite simple really at the moment... although from my previous thread I have also been considering cake alternatives like milk and cookies or doughnuts!!!

Bobbins30 - I love your cake (not biased at all, no not me lol)

    KEBO - that is gorgeous!

I wanted something quite simple so just opted for ribbon and a brooch for decoration and I made the pearl cake topper. I loved it and was exactly what I wanted, and tasted amazing (It's by the same lady who is making beckyV's cake as she is my friend!)

Oh Lisa, I love you cake, beautiful. When we were looking at cakes, that is very similar to the one I was going to choose if we had a proper wedding over here.

I really really like the one above - but OH really does not! Booo.

In the end we have gone for something very individual so I can't find a picture as such - it's quite like the one below in terms of the drape but with more "crinkles" and it spreads about half way around the cake covering a lot more than in this pic. Ours is also 5 tiers and the top tier is the drap all the way round and then it comes down and spreads round the rest of the cake... It will then have fresh roses all the way down it and each join of the tiers will be edged in crystals.

Some fab cakes on here! Vickstix, I particularly like yours as it reminds me of a 'Fab' ice lolly!

We're having one made of cheese. It won't help you but, damn it, I'm going to flash it anyway!

This sort of thing, anyway. We're changing the cheese slightly and have 6 tiers.

I also wanted no fruit tiers but it depends on the kind of cake that you want - if it will be a stacked or tiered cake then you will have to have some Fruit else it won't be stronger. Our 5 tier cake has 2 fuit at the bottom to support it, and then 2 sponge followed by a chocolate one on top.

If you really don't want any fruit cake then I would look for ones which are seperae cakes on a stand. From talking to the head chef where I work you can have them all sponge, but it would involve putting a lot of wooden dowels inside the cake and he said even doing that, he has known then to sink.

    Just thought I'd share

This was ours. All four layers were vanilla sponge - one with jam and the others with hazelnut. The cakes had wooden dowels in for support, and the cake didn't collapse even in 30 degree heat.
