Cake flavours

tinkerbelly1983, 3 March, 2011 at 18:15 Posted on Planning 0 18

I was just wondering if you'd decided to go with traditional fruit or sponge or chocolate or gone for something a bit different.

I am making my own cake and fancy the idea of something snazzy that people won't expect...but will love (hopefully!)

I'm having an autumn wedding so on my wish list so far are...

Spiced apple cake

Carrot cake

Pumpkin & chocolate chip

Red velvet

What do we think?

We are having cupcakes and going to go for a few different flavours (Distinguishable by their topping). We'll have a top cake too - but definitely no fruitcake in sight, it's very dated now and not to mention disgusting.

BB hold your tongue! ALL cake is good (apart from maybe banana cake) and therefore cannot be called dated. Fact.

Loving the sound of spiced apple cake!

I think we're having lemon sponge and raspberry and white choc sponge Smiley smile Mid summer wedding so didn't want anything too heavy.

Red velvet cake is sponge cake which has been coloured a really dramatic red and coated with cream cheese frosting - it is the yummies!

Ooo, sounds yummy, spiced apple for me please ?

Love the different flavours, sadly our cake maker just does fairly typical choices so that's what we're having, probably vanilla, chocolate and lemon.

Hmm good thread- making me hungry ?

We aren't sure on what flavours to have, just know that it wont be fruit cake as we both hate it with a vengeance!

    Were having:

    chocolate fudge

    lemon

    madiera

and a separate fruit cake, my aunt is making it but it wont be part of the display cake if that makes sense. It'll be cut in the kitchen & brought out with the other slices of cake.

Our chocolate is our big tier of 14" but the actual cake tier on display will be fake so it can be chocolate fudge ie not coated in white icing.

Were having a cupcake assortment at nite including:

    carrot cake

    chocolate ie twirl bar

    crunchie bar

    mint areo

    terrys chocolate orange (my favourite)

    Dime Bar

    coffee & walnut

    strawberry & vanilla

    vanilla

    fudge

    banoffee

    lemon

    vanilla with mini marshmallows

I cant even remember the rest! A local cafe makes them & Ive just asked for an assortment.

I treated myself to a terrys chocolaye orange one on Sunday & it was amazing.
