Cake maker coming in an hour, what questions should I ask?

KEG, 11 October, 2008 at 11:25 Posted on Planning 0 14

Morning All,

Just a quick question as its just dawned on me, I have a cake maker coming to see me at 1pm, any particular questions I should ask?

I am armed with a few pics, she does the setting up and delivering, anything else??

Haven't personally got to the cake yet so no experience of this but from the top of my head the kinds of things I would ask are - cost of hiring stands/cake knife if you are having any, extra cost for setting up cake, portion sizes. What kind of decoration are you wanting cos if you are having flowers I would probably ask some questions around who does what, co-ordinating with a florist etc. Sorry can't think of any others.

Are you still planning on having the scrolls round the cake or have you decided to go for cupcakes now?(think I have the correct threads in mind).

    Good luck.

Hi thanks for the reply, not sure at the mo, I am going to show her pics of both, H2B fancies the cup cakes more, so do I, cost is roughly the same she thinks, scrolls are expensive, cup cakes are fiddely.

Will get price and way up, cant help thinking of Joflakes fabulous cake for £40!!!, cost from the cake maker is about £120, but am going to check when she comes, I will report back.?

Yeah I saw Joflakes and it was pretty impressive. Suppose you need to think about whether or not you want to organise the cake on your wedding day or not, unless you can delegate it. £120 seems pretty good for a professional cake. Do you get to try a sample? Let us know how it goes.

You need to have your photos online first of all, like photobox, photobucket etc. Copy and paste should work then!

Erm, I don't think the poster was asking for instructions on how to send you an order!

Hopefully I have managed to upload the pics of the cakes?!?!

It was hard between the three, but H2B and I have decided to go with the one, that looks like something Gaudi would of built (marbled milk and white Ciggarellos), a bit gothic we think (We loveeeeeeee it). I will be minus the flowers too, just with strawberries, yum.

Fingers crossed! All new to me and I have been on nights!?
