Did you get enough cake to serve evening guests or just day guests? When is the cake usually cut up and given? Thanks, x

This is entirely up to you! Traditionally (I think) the cake it cut around the time of the meal/speeches etc We're having meal, speeches, cake cutting...although many choose to cut their cake in the evening now so evening guests can see it!

Of course if you're cutting the cake in the evening you won't be able to serve it until the evening so would need enough for your evening guests too!

Again, traditionally (I think) the cake would be served with the speeches, so probably cut before the meal...our wedding co-ordinator tried to talk us into serving some cake with our speeches but everyone will have just eaten a 3 course meal that had a dessert so I really don't think they'll need/enjoy cake as much as they might later on, so we're serving ours as dessert with the evening buffet!

Some also serve it just for day guests during the 'gap' between the meal/speeches and the evening reception!

But it's really your choice! You could even have both, some with the speeches and put out more in the evening or if you don't want to feed any to your evening guests then just serve it all to your day guests! HTH x

The cake can be cut whenever you want. Your TOG should do a staged cake cutting photo for your album if s/he wont be around when you've planned to cut the cake. When you decide what time to cut the cake (after the breakfast or when the evening has started) this will kind of decide how big you will need it to be.

We're having cake alongside a cheese board in the evening, so are allowing enough for day and evening guests. My friend is making our cake, so she's making one extra cake on top of the usual three tiers, which is just for the caterers to cut up in the kitchen.
