Cake Questions!

BrogstarBride, 13 June, 2012 at 20:06 Posted on Planning 0 3

We are having cupcakes and a traditional 4 tier wedding cake.

We are having the cupcakes for our daytime guests and then the plan is to have the tiered cake for eveing guests. So my questions are .........

At the start of the day on the cake table their will be cupcakes on cupcake stand looking pretty and then Big cake next to it, after daytime guests have polished of cupcakes will my cake look odd on its own on the table ready for evening guests?

ANd at what point am i meant to "cut" the cake?

If the cupcakes are for day guests only I would ask your venue if someone would be able to remove the cupcake stand once they have gone (ask if they will keep it safe if you have hired it, if they wont maybe ask a bridesmaid/usher). Then you could wait until your evening guests arrive before cutting the big cake and ask the venue if they will cut it to serve with your evening buffet.

I agree with The DitzyOne. If cupcake stands are removed your cake will look lovely on it's own & take centre-stage.

Also, as JoJo says most people have a shot of cutting the cake. If this is during the day & you are not serving cake until evening just try to make the cut towards the back of the cake & it won't be noticeable really.

This. Or dont make the cut at all, just stage it.
