Cake stands - do I need one??

Having a minor stress!!

Cake is ready to go now. It's a friend of my Mum's making it and she's phoned to ask if we have a stand, if not she'll hire one.

We don't have one, and having a look on t'internet they all look blinking horrible! Do I actually need one? Can I not just have it on a plain cake board?? I "do" simple things and I haven't found a stand that I like.

    I'm not a fan of the big traditional silver cake stands. I want to get a white china one maybe. I'd imagine you wouldn't need a stand though - a cake board should do it? A stand would add height and drama but if you aren't fussed on those ...

    If you prefer it on the base then keep it on a base, its your wedding after all
