Cake toppers - has anyone got personalised ones?

MISSMAYFLOWER, 22 March, 2011 at 11:38 Posted on Planning 0 8

We're wondering about getting a personalised cake topper for the top of our cake but the lady local to us is over £100.

We're not sure if we want to pay that much so I wondered if anyone else had got a personalised topper and if so, roughly how much you paid? If you got them, were you happy with the likeness of them and the quality?

thank you

Ours will be about £160 for us with our two cats, from Artlocke Designs.

It might seem a lot, but it's one of the few things we'll keep after the wedding and the lady's work is wonderful. My friend had one of her toppers and they really are a great likeness and very good quality. I've been lucky enough to see one 'for real' before deciding on my own, but they honestly are as good as the pictures on the site make them look!

Susan @ http://www.westonsuper-models.co.uk/ did ours. She is not cheap but her work is just divine - SO realistic. Much better than paying less for something that is just basic personalisation and a generic face imo.

You can see from the 'personality' models she does how good her work is, and there are lots of photos of couples posing as their models are posed, and they're just brill. Can't recommend her enough. Yes, very expensive compared to some but I've yet to see as good a 'realistic' model maker anywhere else and i'd rather spend the money on the model which you can keep for ever and have a basic cake from M&S or Tesco, than have an 'ok' model and an expensive cake that'll be eaten within a few days!
