So the plan was to have choccywoccydoodah cake for my wedding.....but after every review i read being a bad one, as you can imagine i changed my mind. Can you imagine bragging and bragging about this amazing cake for it to taste like crap!! cringe moment!!

So i have chose Nom Nom cup cakery who also do wedding cakes, but she has quoted £620.00!! and thats not even the final price as she has never done a cake like the one i am asking for.
I want the cake to mean something to both me and my partner, so i wanted the good and funny points of our relationship.
She said a 3 tier cake starts at £250.00..................WHAT ON EARTH HAS MADE THE PRICE SHOOT BY NEARLY £400.00??????

Thanks

Bit of a "bridemance" moment, loved your cake too..lovely and classic..cakes easily cost £600, wish I had a generous friend to do mine too, my friends don't do baking and you can forget decorating!

Ours is £530 for a 3 tier, which is probably quite a lot but they taste so good so its worth it to us.

We're planning on something fairly simple a bit like this but maybe with 3 layers. We haven't got a quote yet but from what I've read I'm expecting around £300+ for a 3 tier sponge cake like this.

We're having a Caribbean black cake (fruit cake that is soaked in so much rum that it turns black? ) for ours. Originally my mum was going to make it, but then a family member said she wanted to contribute towards the cake, it all got a bit complicated, and now she is paying for someone in London to make three tiers (no idea how much she is charging). I'm getting a girl at work to ice it for me, she said it will cost about £20 (cost price), for plain white icing, but now I have seen some oh her other work I am thinking about asking her to do something more fancy!!

We are having a "Maitriach" cake, each teir made by My mum, his mum and our remaining grandmothers on both sides. also really lucky a good friends Dad is icing it for us. the aim is bottom teir is the SS great britian moving upp to a multicoulored houses off to the side round the harbour then a teir or 2 of sky with clouds and balloons to a topper of me and the boy in a basket with a Papier machie Balloon held up with Wire.

Or atleast thats the grand plan - will try to post pictures when I get them. but we have invited them to the reception and noone has mentioned payment yet....

Its all in the detail and the baker. This is the final* design for ours

4 tier, 3rd a double height, 10,8,6,4. bottom chocolate, 2nd carrot cake, 3rd vanilla sponge, top light fruit. I got quotes from £550 to £150 (3 tier, single height version) eventually went with a baker with 10 years experience working from home for £250 including setup, delivery and stand hire (plus £25 refundable deposit)

I made mine. Single tier, with cupcakes. Cost under a tenner.

Then I went and spoilt my bargainous cake, by buying a £100 cake topper.

Trish2014 I love that really simple dainty cake... its what I'd go for if I was having a cake.

We've opted to have a stack of cheese from a very local (to my OH's parents) welsh cheese producer, something similar to this below... but I'm going to put it on a large slate cheeseboard and decorate it was red grapes, recurrents etc (to fit in with the red colours). Its costing around £180.

We've decided not to go for a "traditional" tiered wedding cake, because of many problems including me being dairy intolerant and having guests with egg allergies/vegan etc. So we're getting a tiered cake stand and buying from the Vegan Cakery a strawberry Gateau, a Double chocolate cake and a Black Forest Gateau Smiley smile The cakes came to £73 plus another £25 for cake stand, less than £100 which I'm quite pleased about Smiley smile

We're also getting a mini fruitcake for those (IE the grandmothers!) who have been complaining that we are not having fruitcake!
