    Hi

My brother lives in California and it is a lovely time to visit. The weather is not as reliable as the height of summer but I find it a lovely temperature (and can be just as hot as summer).

Hmmm, when you say unreliable?! we jinx the weather wherever we go! we ve managed to take rain to areas with droughts!!!

thinking of a warm place with plenty to do and somewhere special and not in the hurricane or monsoon seasons!

    Thanks guys

I can't help really...but just to say we're going there in August for our honeymoon. We have only booked flights and our first 4 nights accommodation-we're going for just under 3 weeks. I can't wait!!

    Hi

When I say unreliable I mean that it isnt always really hot every day but I would say it is warm and sunny most of the time and just cooler in the evenings. There is so much to see and the people are super friendly.

My brother lives just outside laguna beach which is between LA and San Diego and it is gorgeous round there. I would say San Diego is well worth a visit and the whole way from LA to San Diego is full of places that are lovely to visit. I am personally not an LA fan but then I am not a city girl.

    Hope that helps

It really depends on where you go in California. The northern part of the state - San Francisco and upwards are much more like English weather. In September it should be nice but you can't be sure of sun and warmth all of the time. If you're going to the southern end - LA, Santa Barbara, San Diego etc - you have a much better chance of good weather. I would recommend driving along some of the pacific coast highway - it's spectacular!

I went to California in June, LA was really cold at the time which is unusual whilst San Fran was quite warm. Take a hoody and jeans just incase. Both are great places, a bit dodgy in parts, avoid staying at SOMA in San Fran. This where we stayed the hotel was lovely but it is on the homeless district with a lot of crazy folk nearby, a few robberies when we were there. Better staying in Fishermans Wharf, we done a bus tour in San Fran which was an old tram converted into a bus and it was brill. Took us all around, right up to the Golden Gate Bridge, China town etc. We done the Go San Fran card which includes loads of attractions, saves you money and time as well. Book Alcatraz before you go, its only about £15 and really worth seeing.

LA is good but you can easily do it in three days, maybe two if your not that fussed for all the tours, Warner Brothers studio tour was good and bus tours of the star houses are ok but not anything outstanding. We got lost a few times and ended up in Skid Row which is a tent city with loads of homeless and was quite scary but interesting to see.

We did drive further out into the hills and it was beautiful out there. Shopping is fab in both places!!
