Calculating Holiday for redundancy payments - Could someone help?

Fandango, 4 November, 2008 at 11:20 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0

I am having to claim redundancy from the government, apparently this includes holiday that I am due. However having had maternity leave this year, plus already being paid for a load of it, my head is going to explode trying to calculate how many days I can claim, can someone who is clearer headed help me through it? The holiday year runs along side the calendar year

1st Jan - 4th August: 16 days Of these I've been paid for 14 of them, leaving 2 days

5th August - 31st December: 7 days

The company closed 31st October so I'm working it out that it's 4 days entitlement to the end of October, one of which I've taken. this leaves me with a total of 5 days to claim for. Or should I base it on 5.5 days until the end of November (as I would still accrue holiday had I been given a notice period) which coupled with the 2 days from the first part of the year makes 6.5

Or is my brain too scrambled and I've got my figures completely wrong? Any help would be really appreciated, it's not been the greatest 36 hours of my life.

Ive worked it out at 5.5 days, it was easier to work out for my H when he was made redundant as he hadnt taken any of the holiday. I havent reread this but this should help a bit http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/pdfs/guidanceleafletspdf/guideforemployees.pdf
