Callin all landys please!

sineadw, 6 May, 2010 at 11:59 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi ive never properly introduced myself, my name is sinead i get married this september.....oh and im very unorganised! I too want to buy a landy dress, i was a size 16 but will be atleast a 12 by the date a i wanted an off the shoulder as id feel really concious in a boob job style because i have broad shoulders. I also have a small tattoo say bra line on my back and would like it to be covered for the day so i found a style i like on landy and now you knowing my reasons id like opinions please? The thing is i love the style but im 25 and a few people ive shown it too i think thought it was a bit old fashioned? Its in the 2010 collection at the bottom of page 3 and its code LB0904! Please have a snoop and be honest! Thankyou!

    Hi Sinead,

I think it's absolutely lovely. I'm 25 and if I hadn't already ordered my dress I would consider that kind of style. I wouldnt' say it's old fashinoned, you just need to consider whether the style will match your venue and the feel of the day. If you're getting married in a modern building then it may look a bit out of place xxx

They dont have my dress on their website but I emailed them some pictures and they quoted me €230 for it - it's £975 in the shops! I'm just a little worried they might not get it right although I guess thats what they do for all the other ones anyway.

This is mine (if I manage to flash)

The model looks really mardy though!! It has buttons allllll the way down the back. We could be order buddies if you are planning to order soon? My wedding is so far away but Im stressing so much over the dress that I figured I could just do it now.

Well I want to lose a dress size by next August but Im stressing SO much about ordering it and it not being right that Im just going to order it soon and then have it refitted next year. Will probably cost around £100 to get refitted but you have to pay that anyway when ordering one from a bridal shop and then I'll have peace of mind as it will either 1. be lovely and i'll be happy or 2. it will be awful and I'll have to get super saving!

I've contacted them for a quote on a dress for my friends wedding which I was thinking of ordering in my BM colour to really see whats it's like but they havnt got back to me. Once they do I think I'll order!

Im with you ive pondered over what to do is it a big risk but ive settled on no its not! Getting it for such a saving even after it bein altered is worth the risk i think! Keep me posted! I might bite the bullet and order, should i take easy route and order big that can be altered or put pressure on and get the size i want to be lol!!

Mottram Hall is near me (kind of) it's an absolutley beautiful venue and that dress which match the style perfectly. I love the detail down the back of the dress, it's really elegant.

I've been to three shops to try dresses on. I had seen the one I'm going for (picture in either this thread or my one from yesterday - 'Newbie potentially landy bride') in a magazine and fell in love. However I tried all the different styles on and luckily found that this one was the best!!!!! I just hope that they can make as nice!

    Hey Sinead

I think your dress is gorgeous. And I don't see it as old-fashioned at all. I'd deem it classic. Which is very different! I think it'll look lovely.
