Thanks, I love it. It is really flattering on. I think it is quite heavy. I am worried about getting hot in it. But it's not any heavier than any other big dresses I have seen.

    Hi Kerryanne

it was relatively easy, all you have to do is take id - passport/d licence and proof of address for you both, we took bank statements, the registrar was really friendly, we told her we were getting married in Manchester and had provisionally booked it with them too.

Then she explained that normally we would be put in seperate rooms to give our details but as it was a small office we would be done together (she said that this was to make sure we were certain about what we were doing - not being forced or doing it to stay in the country etc)

Then OH had to say that he'd never been married/was uk citizen and we werent related (so many jokes, so little time!) Then he had to give my details - just my full name, address and that i'd not been married. Then I had to do the same about myself and OH.

We paid £30 each and our notice was going to be placed that day, i think it was up for 3 weeks then we had to go back to get the notice. which was today ?

    HTH xx

    Hi all

I'm a 2010 bride too! Hae only just got engaged and we set the date for 8th May 2010. Feels like it might be a bit son but i know we'll get everything done. Have booked the church and venue and this weekend we're sorting out the budget and making the massive to do list so i'll probably feel a bit better about the whole thing once i know exactly what we have to do.

I might have to start my own thread for summer 2010 brides who cant get their backsides into gear ?.

I keep trying to sit down and plan but im so tired at the moment or find myself playing bejewelled instead!

We have the venue booked but need to re confirm the date for 2010, must probably 31st July but need to speak to the scary lady at the reg. office.

I have my dress which is at Mr B mums house and i also have two flowergirl dresses....oohhh and i have my shoes ( but think i have gone of them!)

Cake is being made by Mr B's mum and my best friend is my photographer. Colour scheme is navy blue and gold so need to decide on our stationary and get some save the dates sorted out ( will spend a few more hours dribbling over prettywilds amazing site)

My wedding band has been made and is in the safe at work waiting for me to pay the balance.

Its all the things we need to sit down and discuss so we can move on with planning thats taking its time. We are having a humanist ceremony so need to decide when to go to reg office to do the legal bit and then need to meet with the celebrant to start planning the ceremony with him. OOhhhh so much to do.

    Hello,

I am a 2010 bride as well, 30th july, been a very bad hitcher recently but now it is the summer holidays I am hoping to get on with the planning and hitching! Got the main things sorted I think - venue, photographer, dj (included in venue), provisionally booked registrar, cake (being made by OH and his mum), invite stuff (being made by me, mum and sis), made the placecards but not written on them, colour scheme - royal blue, white and silver. think we have a florist, a sister of a friend is doing floristry in college and has offered but her college decided not to do the 2nd year of her course so having to wait to see if she can find another local college for sept, hopefully she can otherwise i will be looking for one o f those. booked my first dress appointments for next sat and really excited. think i know the style I want but keeping an open mind and want to try on as many dresses as possible!!

we had our parents meet properly for the first time last weekend at the venue, which went well. a lot of small talk as they were all a bit nervous, but next time it should be a lot more relaxed. the lady at the venue is also fantastic and gave a brilliant tour and answered all my mums questions which has stopped her worrying and put her at ease. She hadnt visited it before and couldnt imagine this place I kept describing! My dad is now panicking though as he is having the sudden realisation that I am actually getting married and am no longer 12 years old. Also getting some blank mulberry paper books to personalise into photo albums for our parents as thank yous, our bridesmaid, one for us and for a guest book, so busy summer ahead I think. Have borrowed a guillotine from school to start cutting things for the invites in preparation, and to make little rsvp cards to put inside.

sorry thats a bit long, been meaning to type all this down for the last week or so!

    Loving the dresses being shown!

If you are making your own stationery, it might be worth starting to decide what you want. I came to the concusion that as it would be time consuming and I do not wish to start becoming bored of it, then I would start early! I just try and get it out every couple of weeks and make a few bits.

We are also starting to look at honeymoons.

    Hi Busybee,

just read your message & I'm a summer 2010 bride who needs a kick to get me going although to be fair we've moving in 2 weeks time so we've kinda put it on hold until September when I intend to totally get the ball rolling. My date is also 31st July and I wanted to say that the sooner you book your registrar the better. We're having our ceremony at an approved venue and as we'll be there all day I really wanted a 2pm ceremony. I was dispointed to find that when I phoned at Easter to discover that I couldn't have that time slot so we've provisionally booked 12pm. I've been phoning every fornight in the hope of a cancellation but this week when I phoned they only have 10am & 4pm left. So my advice is to get it booked as soon as you can!!

Hope everyones planning is going well x x

me too! we have managed to get 1:30pm, hoping that when we go and give notice proerly they may have 2pm free or 2:30pm. i dont want the day to be rushed, or to drag on. my dad is worried that 1:30pm is too early, which I dont think it is. dont think he realises that the photos will take time up!

You're lucky vicky, as we're having it an approved venue I suggested that maybe we could have it at 12.30 but they didn't seem very keen. So, although I like the idea of wearing my dress for 12 hours, I'm not sure that guests may end up waiting around. which is fine for those who want to hit the bar or if the weather is nice & we can buy large lawn games but I'm worried that that'll get bored & moan! Oh well, got awhile till the invites have to be written so the decision doesn't have to be made yet

Good luck getting the time you want too x

We're getting married in Licolnshire. My Aunt owns a hotel licensed to do wedding so we're having reception there and a chruch wedding. We got those sorted plus food and entertainment, we're having a local band who we love playing.

Think we've found the BM dresses also but still have so much to sort out. We set the budget and colour shceme and wrote out the biogges to do list you've ever seen. Really need to get on with sorting out all the stationary, flowers, cake photogrpaher, videographer, cars, my dress etc... Feel really scared about it all!

Ours is for 2.30pm. Which we are quite pleased about, as i personally cannot get into the bridal suite until 11am.

OH has got an appointment for trying on suits saturday. Never really seen him suited and booted before, so for personal reasons ? i'm looking forward to that.

Just have to wait for my sister and also CBM to get back from holiday to do my save the dates.

    nothing bad zippy,

just that i have 'sort' of lost interest in the wedding at the mo. i spoke to a close friend who has assured me that it will pick back up again as i do feel quite bad that im not as excited anymore.

im hoping hanging about on here seeing how all the girls are getting on with their plans will help me get my mojo back lol x

Hillier i am glad it's nothing serious!! I always think the worst! Your mojo will definately kick in when you are under the year mark. That's what i'm hoping.

Zippy, did you post your save the dates or did i miss those?!

Hillier - I get a bit like that from time to time. Even now, I feel excited about everything but still can't seem to get round to doing things!

Millymolly - You havent missed it, we are sending them on the 7th August or thereabouts. We have a load of girls from work coming round for a barbecue on the 9th so will be handing some out then too.

I'm doing my save the date cards today, ready to send out in a couple of weeks. We have postcard type things from VistaPrint but am putting stick on diamonte type things on to them and adding ribbon to jazz them up a little.

Luckily, work is very quiet (I actually have no work for the rest of the week but nobody's said 'don't bother coming in' yet like I'd hoped! ?) so I've been doing it during working hours. Tomorrow shall be addressing the envelopes - my god don't I just know how to live!
