Raef - How are you other plans going? As my almost date twin, and as none of my date twins seem to be around anymore, I am using you as a gage to see whether I am on top of things!!!

After a few weeks of being utterly fed up of wedding planning, I have now got the 'mojo' back! I've ordered my new wedding dress today - I like it so much more than the one I have already got, just ordered the flowers and have been emailing the place where I would like to stay up in Gretna. Going to book wedding tomorrow!!! ?

I don't think I even really have a date twin. There is someone on the 2010 list but not sure she's 'active' anymore. Although it may be that I've forgotten who it is...

Err, I think pretty much everything is done or done as far as it can be for now (like the invites, Kizzycatcards is doing them and we're all deposited up but won't get them until April). Save the dates are almost done. I did two adjustments to them and h2b choose the one he liked best. Of course, he chose the most difficult one to do so I've told him he can finish them! I said I'd cut the ribbon and stuff and he can tie the bows!

Done: DJ, not having flowers, venue, tog, videographer, dress, h2b knows the suits he's having and we've been told to order them in Feb, jewellery being done by PG, favours sitting waiting to be made up, centre pieces kind of choosen (but need to see if they'll look any good!), music sorted. Just the honeymoon really (which is in his hands!), the cake (M&S) and flowergirl dresses which I want to leave as late as possible as the girls are all still growing! Anything major I'm missing? I know there are lots of little bits and pieces not in that list but think I've covered the big bits!

How about yours my weekend twinnie?! x

I think I have 2 wedding date twins, but I have not seen them for ages.

I have booked: Church, Reception, DJ, Florist, Photographer. Not having a videographer. Ordered dress. Bought fabric for bridesmaid dresses. CBM is making them and also the cravats which I have bought fabric for as well. I have got my Save the Date magnets and are all in envelopes ready to go. Just need to buy some stamps! I have ordered the favour boxes and started making a few up. I have also ordered all the stuff to do the invites and may start on them today. Also have nearly finidhed the placecards, just need to wait till nearer the time to write names on. Waiting to hear if we are going to have a flowergirl or not, then will need to get her bits next yr. Got mine and bridesmaid shoes. Going to order suits in September. A work colleague is doing the cake. Erm......I think thats just about everything covered! Ooooh I know! Cars - not sure if h2b and best man are having one. I am going in our campervan which is going in for restoration in September. Need to sort something for the bridesmaids.

Why aren't you having flowers? Not even a bouquet?

You sound pretty well organised too Zip. Are you getting the same concerns as me that there'll be nothing to do for the next year?

Am not looking forward to buying stamps either! They can go second class!

Can't wait to see pics of your campervan all spruced up ready for the day - sounds brilliant.

Nope, no flowers at all. I just remember spending my two times as CBM holding the brides flowers and I don't have a CBM! And the amount of venues we viewed where the reception set up had flowers that had already wilted... I know that's down to the quality of the florist but it's a lot of money and I don't see the look adds enough to justify the cost. Although my sister keeps insisting I need a bouquet so I have something to hold in the photos but I'm still not convinced. If anything, I will only go for a small bouquet for myself.

When do you get to pick up your dress?

I am a little worried that we will run out of stuff to do, but at the same time worried that if I have another 8 month planning break like I just have then I will be running round like crazy at the last minute.

I am sending my STD's 2nd class too!

How about artificial flowers? I do know what you mean about the cost. Our first quote came in at £800!!! After changing the rose type and knocking off the church arch I have managed to get it down to about £450!

My dress should be in Sept 1st, but I have no idea where I will store it! WHen is yours due in?

Oh my god, are you serious?! Sending invitations out a year in advance???? ?

My dress isn't due in until January; cue dress wobbles until I can try it on again!

Wow - that was a big saving on your flowers - nice one. I may look into a small bouquet but I was quite set on not having one until seeing my sisters pictures yesterday. I have been given the number of a local florist so it can't hurt to call them I suppose. We want corsage's for our mums and one for my nan so we need to get someone to do those anyway. Am i mad for not wanting one? everyone seems to think so...

I dont think you are mad, but do wonder if you will feel empty handed and look like something is missing. I totally inderstand about all the other flowers, they are a lot of money for one day! What about the groom will he be having a buttonhole?

I've ordered an artificial flower bouquet as I would like to keep it after the wedding. That and the groom's buttonhole cost £48 altogether including the P&P.

    Hi all,

Dumblespud, are we not twinnies any more??? Change your date back!!!

We are utilising our friends and relations to the max! My dad is doing the service, my friends are forming a choir, my other friend is playing the organ, my sister, BIL and friends are forming a string quartet for when I walk down the aisle, some other friends are forming a tuba quartet and are playing a piece during the signing of the register which has been written by BIL. Also my rainbows (like small brownies) are singing during the service.

My aunt is making the bridesmaids dresses, my MIL is making the cake and 400 small bows to go on the invites and orders of service etc which I am making. The mother of a freind is probably making my dress. Another aunt is making favour bags. One friend from work is doing my hair, another is doing my make up and another is doing the disco. my friends Dad is doing the photos.

And then my friends are putting together a caberet for the pre barn dance entertainment!

So what i would like to know is how are we still spending a small fortune! Ah well... (My Mum would obviously point out this is because things I consider necessary are perhaps not so... i.e. Bouncy Castles...).

On top of this we have booked the church, reception venue and catering.

Have majorly lost momentum recently but made some mock up invites the other day and am re investigating transport costs so hopefully am re inspired.

Anyone off to the National wedding show in October?

We're havign a civil ceremony so he's not too fussed as we think button holes are more suitable to a church wedding? I'm so not going to end up with no flowers now am I?! ?

When are you giving notice? I've booked 10th August off this year to get the registrar booked. The council where we have to give notice is being so unhelpful though. I can't book an interview for the 10th as we need to wait until we've booked the registrar to book the interviews! But I know I'm booking the registrar on the 10th; they've told me I can book it on the 10th and I've taken time off especially! His reply? 'You can't book the interview until you've booked the registrar. Oh, and time slots are only Monday to Friday' - so more time off work which I don't have as I want to carry holiday forward to next year! Grr! Apologies for the mini rant but it's so reminded me of the Little Britain 'computer says no' sketch he wound me up!!!

Hi all apologies been so busy so havent posted recently anyway went and tried on the Ian Stuart Dress on Tues and tried on lots of ian stuart dresses,

Cabaret was absolutely beautiful and if i didnt have so much walking to do i would of chosen it but it is heavy due to the amount of fabrichttp://www.ianstuart-bride.com/docs/belle_dress_cabaret.html

Anyway i have settled on my orginal choice of dress Sancerre and will put a deposit down asap but cant decide on colour either Ivory Honey and Mettalic Lace or all Ivory and Mettalic Lace i would like all ivory but am not sure the corsage will stand out as much without the two-tone effect what does everyone think? http://www.ianstuart-bride.com/docs/4.cat_sancerre.html

Cant put pics up as not allowed to take photos in the shop :-(

Zippy thankyou for all your help your a star and you picked some stunning dresses!!!

I prefer Sancerre to Cabaret so think you have made a great choice! Without seeing the other colours it is hard to comment, but I think it looks lovely in the colours shown. I have a corsage on my dress and it's all ivory.

A quick Update from me - I sent out the majority of the save the dates last week, with a few more to hand out this week.

On Thursday and Friday I made the rest of the place cards, they just need the names writing on! And I made 3 invitations, but I have to wait to make more because h2b said the squares I cut with scissors were not perfectly straight, so now waiting for him to do them with a craft knife!

    You caved then?! ?

My STD's are all good to go on Monday and I will also be booking the registrar - woo! Am thinking of going for 1.30pm - what does everyone think? Timings will be service and photo's until 3, dinner until 5 and evening start at 7. Also, the time inbetween meal and evening gives an overrun contigency! I can get to the venue from 11 to get ready so will get hair and make up done at my parents so only need to put my dress on there and have photos so I'll have plenty of time to get ready for 1.30. But do the times sound ok??

You're so organised Zippy! How excited are you about reaching the year to go mark this week? We're ring shopping on Saturday to mark the occasion!

If its any help Raef, I think our timings are:

Church 1pm - about 45 min service followed by photos. Then to the reception by 3 for reception drinks. I think dinner is served about 4.30. We are having speeches first. Meal is followed by coffee and cake on the lawn and then evening starts at 7.30.

I am so excited about Friday, although through the excitement I almost forgot its also my little brothers birthday that day!!

I keep trying to get h2b interested in looking at rings!! WE have his daughter staying at the moment, but wedding planning will resume in 3 weeks!!!
