How is everyone? How is the planning going? After 6 months of not doing a lot, I am getting excited about doing some more as the one yr to go date approaches!

    Sounds like you had a fantastic experience, wish I could find a dress so quickly still I am enjoying looking.

    Thanks Zippy. Our ceremony will only be about 15 minutes - half hour and no travelling as it's all in one place so it should work out similar to yours.

    We're thinking of having speeches either first or inbetween courses. I remember the best man at my sisters wedding being too nervous to eat so I don't want to inflict that upon the people doing speeches at ours! Otherwise I was thinking of doing it FOTB, starter, Groom, main, Best men, sweet so people don't get too bored!

    ETA: my OH hasn't had any real choice about ring shopping! I saw something I liked at the weekend on the internet so want to do some trying on before I buy anything to check sizes / widths etc. Am bribing him with Pizza Express afterwards! Ooh La La's idea!

    Ahhh Milly Molly seems like a similar experience to me hang on mine was 4th dress tooo!!! However 4th Dress is me im now wobbling over whether i should choose the 3rd dress i tried on as it has more wow factor!!! Think i might take my Best Friend along for her thoughts as soon as she comes to visit! Then order and be done with it now more looking at dresses!!

    Update well im arguing with Venue currently as i never liked the evening at ours as room is in a couryard anyway the DJ i might be using who's daughter is also getting married at the same venue said exatly the same and he suggested another room called the Bistro when he phoned they said yes for an extra £500 and 15 rooms which is no big deal, but after an email they are now saying £500 + 20 rooms at a higher price grrrrrr...anyway ive emailed an unhappy email so i will await the outcome. On other things a friend of ours has offered to help design invites and other stationary as he is a Graphic Designer .... Florist meeting arranged for Sept .....Met with a DJ but unsure as cost is ££££.... whats everyone else paying for DJ/ if you dont mind saying, also what is everyone doing for music during the day/ceremony/wedding breakfast? Mines a bit of an outdoor affair weather permitting!!!

    Thats why we are doing it this way, then its over and done with and everyone can relax, except for me who is doing a speech after!

    our DJ is £300. We are having church wedding so dont need to worry about music there, and I dont think we are going to bother with music during the meal. I have never been to a wedding where they have had that.

    Hi all

    my date is 5th aug 2010 and i have booked church, venue, cars, bought dress, ordered BM dress, booked florist and know what flowers i want, booked tog, booked mobile hair lady and make up girl...that's it! I am going to look at rings next week and send save the date cards out at the end of this august. Think i am on target for things to be fairly stress free next year!!

    Our DJ is about £300 - £400. Again, i haven't heard of music during the wedding breakfast, so we aren't bothering. We are having a cd to play the music we want during the ceremony!

    Cheers Milly Molly / Zippy our DJ has given me a price of double that!!!! All the DJ's ive contacted seem really tacky apart from this guy might have to have another hunt!!!!

    Hi got most of my things booked its the details i struggle with lol i have booked dress,chruch,venue,food,music,cars,flower,hair,make up got all the patterns for bridesmaid dresses as a friend making them but as i say it the details i am stuck on dont know wot flowers wot colour lol thanks for the welcome

    Our wedding is Sept 3rd 2010. All i have booked so far is:

    My dress

    BM's dresses

    Venue

    Photographer

    Band

    Make up

    Hair

    Kilts for the men

    Humanist for ceremony - she is fab!

    Bought everything for DIY invites, have made sample, but not actually decided 100% on final design!

    That's it..... Going to see a florist soon to organise the flowers. I am not sure about when I need to give notice etc? I know it's different in Scotland...

    Have I got any date twinnies?

    How's everone getting on? I've not posted on this thread for a while but now I'm down to less than a year (well it would be a year yesterday!) I've had another spurt of excitement and planning! I spent the whole day yesterday thinking 'this time next year we'll.......' hehehe

    Erhem.... not that great but thanks for asking. I have a schizophrenic theme! trying to work it out....

    mission for this weekend - find some decoration ideas!!

    think I've got a 70's retro block colour thing going on but can't find wedding related inspiration.... and dress does not fit the theme.

    Well im off dress shopping again tommorrow, really wana get this sorted now then i can move on to bridesmaid dresses. seeing as this is the other expensive thing to pay for, apart from venue and food.

    was having some issues with budgetting earlier in the week, my original budget was about 8 grand but had got a little carried away and was nearing 12 so had to go through and calm things down a little bit. ots amazing how things so easily get out of control.

    after clothing i guess the next thing to think about for me is invites. already decided this week we are having and m&s cake, went looking at a cake shop last weekend and did some research, its amazing how expensive a cake can be. and its 1 of the things that although i want 1 im really not to fussed about what it looks like. went to my venue last weekend and the wedding on the afternoon had 1 on a stand with a few flowers on it and ribbon, nothing over the top but looked nice enough for me.

    ? can I join in?

    We have fixed a date of 11th January 2010. We are going to get married abroad (unsure where yet exactly but Kenya, South Africa and the Seychelles are possibilities) and it's just going to be the 2 of us! I already have my dress as I bought it off the rack from a fab shop sample shop in Milton Keynes. Also got my headband and shoes so apart from actually figuring out where it will be and booking it we are ready to go!

    i have ordered our save the dates from vista print so im hoping they will be here tomorrow. deposit has been put down on our lush cake! next on the list is cars for myself and bms x

    I dont normally come into this thread as it scares me how organised everyone else is compared to me but I feel im in a good place right now! Save the dates go out today, finally! Venue all booked, Dress on order, cars half sorted, quotes coming in from DJ and meeting the vicar next month. Have started making my main invites too and have just started to look at patterns for BM dresses as mum is making them for me. So getting there! Oh, and honeymoon booked!! Whoop whoop, there is a glorious honeymoon after all this hard work!

    Dont think i have a twinnie yet though! ☹️
