Little update from me - I have ordered my dress, it was only the fourth one I tried on at the first shop - yes I am indeed insane but am in love with a dress! ?

There is a horrendously long thread I've started about it telling you about the whole experience if you have the energy ?

I must admit, I'm a bit like this today in case you can't tell >> ?

We are going to our venue on Wednesday night to have a little Q & A session with the Wedding Co-Ordinator & to pay off some more money.

Next weekend I will be going shopping for Favour Boxes & little bits like that.

    OMG! That sounds insane! Heehee!!

I've just realised that if we confirm with our venue this weekend, it's only 7 months for me! Wooo! We've been together nearly 8 years and neither of us wanted a long engagement hence why it's took us so long (and also cos we kept booking holidays!) Heehee! Exciting times!!

    Quick update on my plans.

We should be getting our wedding rings by Friday - very exciting. But nervous as well; hope we like them!

Our certificates for marriage are being sent to our registrar today as well.

We've decided to have two honeymoons (!); a week / 10 days after the wedding and a long weekend to New York in December so very excited about that. And also decided for definate on colous for cravats / bridesmaid dress sashes / button holes etc. Our colours are black and white but the girls sashes are hot pink, OH will have a matching cravat in the same material and the ushers / best men etc will have pink gerberas as their button holes. Phew, decision made!

    How are everyone elses plans?

I'm a newbie and only just started to plan but here's my update! (that sounds cool!) heehee ?

We're off to see our "dream" venue on Saturday and hopefully can confirm - got a provisional date booked too - 1st May 2010

Other than that, we've asked our Groomsmen and Bridesmaid(s) (more on that saga on another day) and organised for our Mam's to make the wedding cake. Colour scheme is still being tweaked but likely to be pink, brown & blue (I like pink, he likes brown and blue). We're not renting suits, Groomsmen have been asked to wear a dark suit so just need to find a nice tie for them (easier said than done having looked in the shops the other day!)

That's all for now! Not bad since we only started "planning" on Friday!

    Hi all,

I get married 12th June 2010 and i really cant believe it's less than a year away!

You all seem really organised, it puts me to shame really, i have organised the church and reception, chosen my dress and the bridesmaids dresses, i have also booked the photographer, booked our transport and have put the order in for our cake, but thats it.

I feel like i still have loads to do!!!

Just out of interest is anyone getting married on the same date?

    Hello all 2010 brides !!!

Is anyone still excited but yet very nervous at the same time ?

I'm quite organised in that I have most of the major things done (tog, venue, cake, dress, BM dresses, notice of marriage, my shoes, invites, save the date, favour boxes,) need to sort out florist and then things kind of cool down till the new year. It doesn't help either that I still don't have a job and am so very glad that my dad is paying as we wouldn't be able to have the wedding that we want. I'm hoping to have something by the new year.

My next jobs are sorting out florist and a date for hen do and what I want to do x

Hey girlies, i think its 9 months today to our wedding and I feel like ive done nothing of late! I just cant seem to find the time! Or money! I really need to crack on with finishing my main invites, they take a lot of doing, went abit creative and didnt actually think about how long that would take, then ive still got to make the evening invites, order of service, menus, place names, table plan etc...

I think most stuff I need booked is booked, church and venue booked, honeymoon booked, tog booked, dj booked, and meeting with another florist arranged. Just need to find some money to pay for it all!

Havent even thought about rings, bridesmaid dresses, my shoes, their shoes, mens wear, presents for bridal parties, hair, makeup - pah, worry about all that after xmas, my aim is to get all stationary done by xmas.

Kerry- you must be just a couple of weeks after me. You lucky thing with a trip booked to vegas!! OH and I havent had a holiday since he proposed last november and wont be able to afford one until the honeymoon! (we are paying for the whole wedding so every penny counts!) We will defo need one by then!!!!...although I think we will both be sooo tired by then from working 7 day weeks we will probably sleep through the whole thing! lol!

    xx

Oh Moya - i know how you feel ...our weddings 17th July whens yours?

We have a motto work hard play hard and we always try and get away somewhere together each year although we said we wouldnt this year .....shhhh.....so thats why i booked a suprise trip to vegas for OH 30th i so cant wait!! Eeeek

In terms of our wedding we have been really lucky as the majority of thecosts are being split 3 ways between parents and us which has made the whole cost berable... our only problem is that we are trying to move as well so im trying to stash the cash so to speak as im a saver and OH is a spender!!!

As i said previosuly i sometimes think im organised then other days its overwealming how close it is!! Have you sorted your dress issues out yet?

    Hello all,

Had a very weddingy week, BM was up at the start of this week and we had a lovely time looking at wedding stuff! This is where we are at currently:

Booked/ordered: Chapel, organist, reception venue, rooms for the wedding night, DJ, photographer, hair and make up lady, car, accommodation for night before wedding for myself and some guests, florist.

MIL2B is making the waistcoats, ties, cake, veil and my dress alterations.

Bought/done: My dress, tiara, jewellery, bra, shoes, flowergirl headdress, bridesmaid jewellery, insurance, save the dates (already sent), invitation bits (made up as much as possible), gift for MIL2B, all the favours, a few bits for decorating venue, guest book, hoop (bargain, 99p!!), favour boxes which are now made up, ribbon for favour boxes and cake, brooch for cake, table diamonds, mens cufflinks, confetti (also a bargain, £30 for 15 litres), organza bags to put confetti in, tea light holders, filled in our section of the Special marriage licence (need vicar and archbishop to do their parts now!). Candle holders to go on table with guest book.

To do: Mens suits, find material for MIL2B to make waistcoats and ties with (although now H2B has 'approved' the colour blue he wanted this will be much easier), bridesmaid and flowergirl dresses, get beads for MIL2B to attach to veil she is making, get rings (hopefully this weekend or next), book honeymoon, meet florist and decide on flowers, sort out wedding music and readings, order of service, table plan, post box, table numbers hair and make up trails, find gifts for my mum and all the male members of the wedding party, attach ribbon and name tags to favour boxes, thank you cards, get bits for sweetie table, choose menu, decide on first dance, playlist for DJ, put confetti in it's organza bags.

    BM is organising hen do.

    Hi all,

I'm feeling all weddingy after a weddingy weekend. Went to listen to a potential band on Thursday, they were great & so we've now booked them. Went back to Norwich (where I'm from & where we're getting married) & managed to get all my bridesmaids together to try on different styles of dresses. We tried high street & wedding shops, unfortuantely the high street don't have anything lilac at the mo & the wedding shops are soooooo expensive! Although I found a website last night http://stylenotesltd.com/party-prom-dress-code-co5014-P220625.aspx which has a couple of dresses that exactly what I want & can be ordered in lilac & can be made to exact measurements & are only £50!!! Has anyone heard of or used style Notes?

The other thing we did was go to a wedding fair which was great fun. It was held at the venue we're having for our wedding so it was really nice to go back & see it again!

Hope everyone else is getting on well with planning,

    Kat

Well my gretna package includes ceremony, photographer and ppw so thats all in hand!

Party venue and DJ booked for when we get back

boys are hiring their gear so just me and my BM dress/shoes etc to buy, plus rings

Mini moon booked for a couple of days in Oban after the party then planning a family holiday later in May that we can go on with our 2 wee boys (feel too guilty leaving them for more than a few nights, they are only 4 and 2....)

Colours are navy blue and ivory but not needing much in the way of stationery apart from party invites so just going to order them online ready made nearer the time! and prob get the party venue decked out a bit. Havent decided about a cake yet - would like one for the party but not going to make a big deal of it so will have to shop around and see what sort of smallish ones are available and what they cost....

All in all not too stressful, exciting though!

I'm also a teachermy oh is too, just like you I have far too much to do for school and am so knackered that we are in bed for 9.30pm each night, so weddingy stuff is definately in the background. Have just paid deposit for hair and make up ladies and so another tick on the list is there!

We've ordered our rings this morning. I've gone with a white gold 2.5mm lightweight court ring, and H2B has gone for a 5mm flat profile palladium ring. We got them from the jewelery quarter in Brum, and were very pleased with the prices!

Had a result today!! My mum's friend makes a lot of dresses and costumes for the local theatre group. She has very kindly offered to make my bridesmaid dresses for me! So have to find some prices on material now!
