Calling all crafty girlies

GeordieBarbie, 1 February, 2010 at 16:03 Posted on Planning 0 16

Been looking at card to make some OOD and found some which are "hammered" card. What does this mean? (Surely they're not all drunk!) ?

Thanks!

Its an effect that makes the card look and feel like it has been 'hammered', its a bit bumpy.... umm... difficult to explain!

Someone else might be able to provide more insightful and helpful answers...xx

Hmm, as lola said, its hard to describe but its textured card, as opposed to a plain smooth finish

As the others have side it has a bumpy texture so not a flat surface:

Hi Geordie... Hammered card can sometimes be difficult to print on (depending on your printer) so you might want to test a piece first before you buy loads?

Thanks MrsC. I've ordered the plain - decided I didn't like the hammered ad the plain fits in with my invitations ?

So i've ordered A5 card for the OODs and DL cards for the menus ?

Yeah - that's my next worry - the font.

The font used for our initials on the invitations was "English 157" which I don't have. I made a picture from the online sample on Vistaprint for our info packs but not sure if that'll llook OK on the OODs? Also, I wanted to use that font to write our names on the front of the insert... ?

GB I printed ours on hammered paper and no problems at all. had to set it to 'best' quality etc though so used a lot of ink. for the fonts I'm not sure if a pic would be good enough quality - it may look a little fuzzy, have you tried looking at free font websites? just google the name of the font, free fonts - and you should be able to see if you can download for free - you could always try something similar - no one will tell the difference.

    Hi all,

sorry to hijack, but its all related to DIY.

I'm thinking of doing our own, what are the best websites for templates, ordering cards, envelopes, crafty bits etc?

    many thanks

I got my cards from Ebay - A5 cards (A4 size folded to make A5) 50 for £6.98 inc postage. The DL cards were £2.98 for 10. SOme of them offer envelopes with them.

As for templates I'm just making my own in Word. PowerPoint or Publisher (based ont eh design of my invitations)
