Calling ALL DIY stationery brides / grooms!

sheree_heptinstall, 22 June, 2011 at 20:08 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi!

So I currently have purchased some blank folded square cards to make my stationery, but now I am struggling on what best program to use to design my stationery styles!

I'm wanting to print onto the card, and the look at adding ribbon, jewels etc.

I'm wanting them to look good, and preferably not handmade. Any ideas what's the best way to achieve this?

much help appreciated! xx

We looked at lots of stationery catalogues and got ideas that way.

i'd also say, be prepared to be patient... both of you! Designing stationery was probably the hardest thing and most time consuming part of the planning to date.Neither of us are that creative!

Also, do you know what your colour theme/ general wedding theme is? these really guided our design choices.

    Hope that helps x

Hi Did you say your card was folded? Make sure it will go through the printer first and make sure the card is compatible. Search for wedding stationery on google images for inspiration and start building up a design in publisher or something like that. If you need any help and advice please do get in touch. Nar

Hmm, stuck on ribbons and jewels are pretty much a giveaway that cards have been "handmade" Smiley smile

I made all my invites. I originally didn't want them to look handmade, then I realised I just couldn't do this and decided to embrace the handmade thing. These were mine:

I think unless you have access to a really good printer and a good design programme it is quite difficult really. Photoshop is a good place to start though.

Can I ask, did the paper come like that or did you design it to have that kind of look as we were thinking of designing our own and I want that kind of background.

I bought the paper from Hobbycraft and I still have the packaging - it is Folio 'Pure Marble' Ivory. The product code is ZP0152.

I made mine too but didn't print straight onto the actual cards - did a mount for the wording on the front and printed on an insert for the middle which I stuck in (sorry for rubbish pic):

Thanks! I designed the orchid motif in photoshop (using a graphic that I downloaded initially).

Then I laid it all out in powerpoint (images and text boxes) so that it all fit onto A4 sheets of card, printed it out and trimmed all the pieces with a guillotine.

I drew the map, scanned it in and then added the motif in photoshop again.
