Camping, help!

Kate84, 11 July, 2008 at 11:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Hello, I am normally on weddings but seen as this is O/T I thought I would post here. I am off for a weeks camping in the south of france. Its my first ever lengthy-ish camping hol and I have got the essentiels sorted but can't think what else I'll need. I was wondering if anyone had any good tips of things to take that I may have not thought of?

Thanks for this x

Bin-bags - you can never have too many! Likewise matches and washing up cloths.

    Have a lovely time!

As well as bin bags, plastic bags aplenty. A four pack of Tesco value kitchen roll - you might not use it, but you'd be amazed at how much you get through if there's even one rain storm! ?

If you haven't, get a camping chair.

First aid kit, including after sun, wasp-eze, insect repellent.

Torches, plenty of batteries. Spare batteries.

Crocs or similar footwear. They work in the dry, in the rain, you can wear them in the showers if they're grim, go in the sea in them...

We always take airbeds to sleep on - can't stand sleeping on the hard ground!

Camping stove or Trangia and cooking plans/utensills

Plates/cups/cutlery - I bought some plastic wine glasses too!

    Cling film & sandwich bags

    Camping table & chairs

One thing we didn't have & wished we did was a wind break

Cold box/bag (we bought one you can plug in the car) and ice packs (some campsites have a freezing service)

Picnic rug (they sell them in Aldi for £5)

    Torches/camping lights

Towels - shower towels, swimming towels & tea towels

Washing up bowl, washing up liquid & cloths/sponges

    Tea bags!!!

I second the bin bags - handy for all sorts of things, like dirty laundry etc.

Disposable BBQs - we bought a set of 2 from Morrisons and they were great!

Don't forget your wash stuff, including soap - and some toilet rolls!

    Sleeping bags (obviously)

    Mallet

Can't think what else.........except the tent of course!
