Can Amazon do this?

spacecadet_99, 7 January, 2009 at 16:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I've ordered some items and asked for them to be put in one delivery. They can't be dispatched until the end of Jan as one of them is the Professor Layton DS game which is in short supply at the moment. That's fine by me, I'm happy to wait so long as they don't take my money!

In the meantime I've been on a search for a Wii Fit. It's impossible to get at RRP, but has now come into stock at Game for £95 free delivery with the Rayman Rabbids game, which is a reasonable price. Rayman Rabbids is also on my Amazon order, but they've told me they won't dispatch till around the 21st so fine, I'll cancel it. Except the 'My Account' section won't let me. It says 'you cannot cancel this order as it is dispatching soon'. In what world is the 21st dispatching soon?! It's 2 weeks away!

I feel a strongly worded email coming on, but it's on MrSC's account so will have to wait till he gets home.

It may be that they're going to dispatch the in stock items now and leave the others until they come into stock, so you can't cancel the stuff they're ready to dispatch now. I've had that happen to me before.

Edit; and that's even when things are supposed to come in one delivery. They often dispatch separately anyway

I see your point 2 weeks is a long way away but can't you just return the Rayman Rabbids to Amazon when you get it. I know its a little hassle....but its not really that big a deal.

Wordsworth - I don't think so, all the items are still grouped together under the 'Dispatch between 21st - 26th Jan' or whatever the dates are.

penguin1977 - I don't see why I should have to return it, they haven't sent it yet, I don't want it, why can't I cancel it? And presumably have to pay postage costs. And (ironically given your username) the only jiffy bags I have are ones with penguins on, thus giving them a laugh when I'm still feeling annoyed ?

I'd email them and ask then, it sounds odd.

I would imagine they have recieved stock earlier than expected, and have pickled your order ready for dispatch. If they split an order you can still cancel the items that aren't ready to go.
