Can any one reccomend a good reception venue?

pinkfrost, 29 June, 2012 at 09:04 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi All,

I'm getting aggitated cos i cant find a venue I like!!

I need a venue in Leeds with accomodation. My Fiance is half French & has relatives all over in places like London, france, canada etc who would need accomodation, plus we have two young boys, so id want them to be in close proximity incase they go to bed & im then needed.

I visited the Village north hotel, but I wasnt overly impressed.... it was a bit too corporate for me.

I went to a wedding open evening last night at the holiday in tong... it was nice but it didnt have the wow factor!

I'm off to see a place called Healds Hall on sat, but if thats not ideal, I have no idea what to do next!! We're getting married in a church, then wantig to go to the venue for photos, wedding breakfast, & evening buffet.

If u have any suggestions, i'd be forever grateful xxx

I got a quote from Woodlands & because I want the wedding on a Saturday, its a minimum spend of £10k & I dont think I can stretch to that.... as much as i'd love to!

I went to a friends wedding at Oulton Hall & as nice as the wedding was , i had a bit of a crap experience with the room.... Plus i got really drunk & attempted to take a bottle of champagne off the bar, so i'd probably not be welcomed back, haha x

We went to a wedding at Thorpe Park which was very nice, food was good, nice interior and rooms were good and comfy.

I don't have any venues to suggest I'm afraid, but what I would like to add is that the first time my H2B and I visited venues we had a meh feeling about all of them. I don't know what we were looking for but I think we just imagined some amazing fairy tale, absolutely perfect place. Nothing seemed to meet out high standards (and looking back I don't think anything would have done!). Then we realised that we had seen everything within a reasonable distance of the church. So we visited them again and this time one just clicked, and we saw past the 'faults' we had seen first time around and picked our venue which we both know is perfect.

So if necessary go again, maybe at a different time of day, or when its dosen't have another function (we saw one at a wedding fair, which completely destroyed the room's 'feel'!). You may find you see things differently.
