Guests bring their own. They're getting nothing from me!

We put on the info sheets with our invites that the venue only allows biodegradable confetti or petals.

    Hi,

Not sure I can help with who's right, but I will be supplying confetti (well petals!), just because I won't know whether guests would bring their own. This way I know I can get my confetti shot!

Right then, coming from the professional (hehe)

It really is up to you! If you would like a dramatic confetti shot with colour co-ordinated petals then you should provide your own. If you aren't bothered about a confetti shot, then don't bother obviously. It is actually quite rare these days for guests to bring confetti with them as it is becoming more and more popular for it to be provided. You can mention it on your invitations/information sheets but the thing is you can't guarantee that guests will remember.

I've never been to a wedding where it was provided before. I always take some, usually several boxes of the stuff so I can hand it out if anyone wants it.

One of the advantages of supplying your own confetti or petals is that you will know its origin. There are some on sale that are cheap and cheerful and not so good. Some will not degrade(hard to tell visually from the type that does) and more relevantly, some have colourfast issues. With the slightest amount of rain/drizzle etc, the colours may run and ruin the dress. Many car suppliers will stipulate that any confetti throwing is far away from the cars.....it can ruin their paintwork...

Sorry if this comment is another conundrum for your day.....

also consider rice....or sugar almonds if there is any Italian blood in the family!!!! (although these can hurt a little)

    Thanks for all your replies!

The invitations went out last week, and because i assumed that we would provide the confetti, i didn't mention anything in the info sheets! Also, the Vicar told us we can only use biodegradable confetti because of the graves etc, so i'd be in big trouble with the vicar if people brought their own confetti that wasn't biodegradable ?. I wanted to use real rose petals too to fit in with our colour scheme!

I guess i've answered my own question here ?, we will be providing the confetti!

You know I used to take confetti to weddings but not so much these days. I guess even if 5 of your guests bring it then that is enough for a good confetti photo shot!

I think we may supply a few cones of confetti at ours. It can be made quite easily with some biodegradable paper and a shape punch out craft thing!

I would say about 10 cones is plenty. You can make it yourself too if you want to dry your own rose petals, can work out a lot cheaper!

I hadnt even thought about confetti - the register office where we are doing the deed is in the middle of the big market place in town, always hustling and packed with people, and i always see lots of confetti inbetween the cobbles, so i assume anythinnng goes................i also assume guests will bring their own...although i would be upset if i didnt have any thrown over us....

My MIL2B got her wedding dress and shoes out the loft to show us the other day, and it still had confetti stuck to it..........i guess theirs wasnt biodegradable.........

I won't be providing confetti as such but do have confetti canons and going to give them out to the bm, best man and usher for one massive confetti explosion.

I've never been to a wedding where confetti was provided.
