Can anyone think of hidden extras?

dollydimple88, 15 June, 2014 at 19:21 Posted on Planning 0 10

Anyone close to finishing their planning or possibly any of the married ladies.. Is anything that you had to buy that wasn't factored into your original budget? We have just under 4 months and trying to make sure we have all the money put aside that we need. Family are generously helping towards the wedding and would like to know what is still to pay for. Obviously I have accounted for suits, cars, cake and all the big things etc and these are all sorted but trying to wrack my brain of the little things, like I forgot about confetti if we're providing it.

Thin I'm im just having a 4 month panic!

xx

What about gifts for bridal party? And have you put any money aside for the day, as in buying yourself drinks.

The thing I'd forgotten about, which is going to add quite a bit onto our budget, is flowers to decorate the ceremony room. I'd thought about decor for the reception room, but completely forgotten the ceremony room!

Seat covers? I know it's something some people feel strongly about

Getting your dress cleaned post-wedding, and the wedding photo album(s) printed. Plus costs of printing/sending thank you cards.

Those are the costs that just slapped me in the face like a cold kipper ?

I am probably the only person who forgot about this, but I've just remembered I need to pay for dress alterations in August and I hadn't budgeted for them! Not too bad if it is just mine but no, 2 adult and 2 children's dresses too!

Other things maybe confetti, thank you cards for on the day, thank you gifts, things to keep any children entertained - I've put a goody bag together for my 2 young guests with crayons, paper etc

First time round I completely forgot to budget for stamps to send the invitations, although I'm guessing that a 4 months out you've done that already.

Thanks for the replies. We have a minimum spend on the venue and there will be the excess needed to match it put behind the bar between ceremony and meal and then a bit more for us for the night time as I won't have anywhere to stash my cash as I normally store it down my bra on nights out hah. I've budgeted for dress alternations for me but will add a little more for my bridesmaid (who fit the sample perfectly with a little growing room - she's 12) and still need my daughters flowergirl dress but that's being made to measure 6-8 weeks before. Hadn't thought of thank you cards and have added confetti to the list tonight. I will add thank you cards and I think family are getting the album for us as a present but I might add a bit more just incase.

Our ceremony is in the same room so the wedding manager will move the reception flowers into place for the ceremony and back again for the meal etc. and we have chair sashes rather than covers as the chairs are lovely.

Oh oh ill add stamps too lol.

    Xx

What about your morning after outfit? Some people like to wear something nice the next morning.

    Table numbers/names and holders?

    Jewellery?

New Make up if you're doing your own?

Guest book and box for gifts/cards?

    Underwear?

Money for any treatments - I.e eyebrow threading, nails etc?

Also, I'm sure you've considered it, but if you're invites are going in boxes it's likely to costa fair bit to post them. We only had normal sized ones but they were too thick to go 1st class so we ended up spending about 90p per invite just to post them! We also put stamped address rsvps in there so ended up costing about £30 altogether!

I think my morning after outfit will just be my hollister trackie bottoms and a top. I think I'll be going for comfort. Need to go to the venue on the way home when we leave the hotel to pick up the decorations.

Yeah I've factored the postage in hopefully. The most expensive will be the invite I need to post to my brother in Australia! Dreading that one x
