can i get a WOOP WOOP?!?!

bluewater, 14 January, 2009 at 13:41 Posted on Planning 0 20

We have booked flights for our honeymoooooonnnnn!!! yay!! going to thailand for 14 nights!!!

accommodation not yet booked, but we are doing 3 nights in bangkok, then (hopefully) three nights here: http://www.samuihillsidevillage.com/ then (hopefully) 7 nights here: http://www.moonhutsamui.com/ then another night in bangkok before our flight home.

am soooooooooooooooooo excited, i haven't been on holiday for ages, and have never been anywhere vaguely exotic or luxurious! we go on the 3rd aug, after our wedding on the 1st, so we can get a day to come down, and maybe spend a few more hours with the scottish contingent, which is great too.

anyone want to ? with me?

<aside> Are you based near Bluewater? Im a local girl, got married at Stone Castle just behind the shopping mall before the new estate was built and ruined the grounds. ☹️

errrrrrrmmmmmm i live ON the estate that ruined the grounds...... ?

stone castle must have been really gorgeous before - we live right at the back really near the castle. we did look to get married there, but it was too small to have our reception inside, but our wedding wasn't really big enough to have the marquee option.... i would have loved to have seen it before the development was built - i take it your wedding was before the houses were built?

we used to rent in ingress park too - i bet the grounds there were gorgeous too! (before the new estate was built....)

We were married there in 2004. At the time only the flats at the front on the main road were built. The rest was just fields and the old cement works. We drove in the estate recently and I was shocked to see how close the places are to the castle. It's like you could lean out of your window and touch the walls ☹️ I bet they've lost a ton of bokings. It's largely unknown as it is. I mean I grew up in Thamesmead and have lived in the area all my life and never once heard of it. You always been local?

No, grew up in bromley and moved there 2yrs ago - needed somewhere between my old job in london bridge and h2b's in gravesend. if i'm honest the developers have probably built on the land too much - there are too many flats and too many cars in the development. i'd never heard of stone castle til we moved there.

I used to drink over Bromley, was it Henry's on the hill by the Glades? And that "nightclub" was what it called...up by Sainsburys....??

It might have been, it definitely sounded Italian - full of Footabllers though, I snogged quite a few in my time ?

Do you go out round our way much now? I feel too old for many places although The Wharf at Crossways is nice for a Sunday afternoon drink.

    ?

Congrats Bluewater ..... thats an exciting feeling.

We are also going to Thailand. Fews days in Bangkok and about a week in Koh Samui. We only have flights too, still looking into accomodation (are we the same person??). Those places look really nice. I haven't seen the hillside villlage one before though it feels like I have researched pretty much every place on the island! Just can't decide which area to be in. We also need to book our internal flights.

Keep us posted with any more info and enjoy the bounce - its great when a major task can pretty much be ticked off the list.

I spent bloomin' weeks trying to find some half decent places to put to h2b! we are trying to avoid places around chaweng on the east as it's quite busy there apparently and we want somewhere more relaxing. my parents have been to bophut and recommended it highly so we are staying round there. we are there around the time of the full moon party on koh pan yang (or however you spell it) so we are still deciding whether we want to go to that 'for the experience'....

Yeah we are thinking of the Bhophut area too. From what I read Chaweng is v v touristy and busy though apparently the beach is a lot better. I did find a really nice place on the cliff side between Lamai and Chaweng but H2B wasn't too keen. I fancy somewhere that is pretty small, boutique type resort with thai feel - preferably thai villas.

I've haerd mixed things about the full moon party, though don't know much about it.

ooohhh I'm getting all excited thinking about it now. Really must get our accomodation sorted.

We will be there before you so will post any tips/info.

Oooh, it looks absolutley amazing, no wonder you're bouncing all over! We went to Thailand a few years ago, and loved it. We were in a different area (Krabi) for 10 days then 3 nights in Bangkok. Just expect a bit of a culture shock when you first get there, it's a big noisy city, but what an experience. If you are there at the weekend, check out the chatuchat market. It's just the biggest thing you'll ever see.

We stayed in an apartment hotel very near the river, so not right in town, it was next to the feeway exit, so gettign to the airport was easy, and at the last stop on the skytrain to get into the centre in 10 mins or so.

    Have a brilliant time!

    Michele
