Can I get some opinions please? - jewellery (*flash*)

I need some opinions please!

A bit of background (I am trying to keep it short): When we started planning the wedding I said I am not going to buy any jewellery, but I will be wearing my mother's and my grandmother's jewellery (for both emotional and financial reasons).

I have now fallen in love with a diamond and sapphire necklace that belongs to my mum. So far, so good - BUT there are no matching earrings. Went to a jewellers to ask about earrings to go with it, but to get properly matching ones I would have to have them made. This would go into four-digits numbers, which is not an option. I then thought I would get some diamond studs, it wouldn't be a "match" as such, but it would work.

Then last week OH found a magician for the reception (between ceremony and meal) and we agreed it would be more important to have this additional entertainment for everyone to enjoy, so I said I am happy to wear fake earrings instead and use the money for the magician (and, yes, I really am happy with that). While I was in town earlier I had a look around and saw some cubic zirconia studs, but then I went into Accessorize and found a pair of studs that look like crystal (not sure what they are actually made of) in a sterling silver setting (so no allergy problems). They were 6 pounds and I thought if I don't go for the real thing anyway I might as well go for a real good price and bought them... However, when I put them next to the necklace at home I started having doubts about them being too big. There is a flash of them and the necklace below - what do you think? Do they look silly big (I should say that they are not bigger than my earlobes, they sit nicely in the middle, but they do look quite big)? Many thanks for your help!

I think the necklace is lovely and clearly an original, slightly vintage looking, piece. It stands alone, to be honest. Those earrings are only going to suffer in comparison. They draw focus, and not in a good way. Do you *need* earrings?

WSS! I'd be tempted to wear none at all. Or could you go for completely plain silver studs?

Thank you very much! Yes, I have had a bad feeling when I put the earrings next to the necklace, hence my post... I have never considered not wearing earrings on the wedding day as I will be wearing my hair up and my dress is strapless, so I am worried about it looking a bit naked (if that is the right word...). Furthermore, I am not going to wear much other jewellery - obviously I will then wear a wedding ring and I am going to wear my engagement ring on the right hand, but that's it, no bracelet or any other rings, I am a bit worried it's not enough.

Don't forget that beautiful tiara that I saw you flash in your other post!

I would probably go for very small studs to match your necklace, I agree that these ones do look abit too big.

Thank you all for your opinions, that was very helpful, I am now looking at it from a completely different angle Smiley smile (will be checking out the links you found for me s_douglas, thank you!). I am really warming to the idea of not wearing any earrings...

Ooooh, Indie, sorry, I know this is super confusing, but I didn't want to tell the whole (long and convoluted) story in that flashing post - We have two different "weddings", one actual (legal) wedding in Germany and a chapel blessing in the UK. I will have two different outfits. The headpiece is for the German wedding and the sapphire necklace for the UK wedding, so will not be worn together... I explained (and flashed) the whole - as I said long - story a few months ago:

Agree with the others. Necklace is beautiful, but the studs look too large & (sorry) fake! Something smaller would look better. Dont know if any of these are any good? All under £20 & might look better quality than really cheap ones.

Thank you Teal - I really like the simple stud ones, that really could be an option (or possibly no earrings at all... will sleep on it!)

Yes, I know - it is very exciting and I am indeed very lucky Smiley smile
