Can I have a smug 'squee'? EEK!!!

flissy666, 18 February, 2009 at 16:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I just wanted to share my excitement with you all! After a horrid couple of weeks job hunting, etc. I have had some fab news! Firstly, I found out that my former University is going to support my application to a prestigious research fund - although I've still got to go through open competition, the fact that the University has chosen to support my application alone out of all the scores they received is ace! And then just an hour later, I found out that my PhD thesis has won a prize for being the best in its field across the country!!!

I wish all days were like this Smiley laugh

Thank you Serephina! If it's okay, I'd rather not say as the competition is still to close, so don't want my proposal 'out there' yet! But if I get the funding, I will certainly let you know Smiley laugh

Cosmopolitan, I have tomorrow off coincidentally, so a bevvy is certainly planned. Thank you!

Thank you so much Lois! I am on cloud nine!

Thanks Seraphina! Anyway, who am I to ignore the advice of Russell Grant?

"If you're thinking of getting a new job, start formulating a plan to get it. Sign up for a computer class. Do some research into your desired industry. Overhaul your CV and hone your interviewing skills. Above all, don't share your plans with anyone else. The element of surprise will work in your favour. Too often, your rivals write you off as being naive. By employing a little strategy, you can lull them into a sense of complacency and emerge the victor. "
