Can I help him pick his suit??

shell657, 23 January, 2012 at 20:51 Posted on Planning 0 15

Is it Ok for me to go with my grooomsmen when they try on & pick their suits? We've roughly picked out the suits from the online gallery but i was a little worried i may get glared at in the shop if i went with them! Is it the 'done thing' to go with them or not?

I'd say this is a question for your OH, the suits are his area really so it depends whether he'd want you there or not. OH and I went suit shopping together with PIL, this was because he wanted me there, we chose colours and suits etc but when it comes to all the boys going and trying on etc I won't go.

I think it is up to your OH, but obviously he would need to make sure colours don't clash horrendously with things you have already decided on! My OH and I looked together, but the colours and style was his choice, I commented that a cravat looked smarter than tie and that's what he went for.

I went with my other half as he really wanted me too, he has low self confidence and I spend a lot of time re-assuring him. In the end I was glad I went as he was getting roped into going for something that made him look 60 lol. All sorted now ?

I would suggest he choose them by himself, with or without your help. Then when he has chosen, show the rest of the groomsmen what they will be wearing. If they all go together to choose, they'll be there all day and probably end up arguing.

I went with OH & best man to picks suits, as OH asked me to go along. I did ask if he just wanted to go with his best man, as I already had a colour cutting of the bridesmaid dress to match cravates incase, but he said he wanted me along. The man in the shop said it was more common for the bride to go along than not! Def check what OH wants.

I went with OH to choose colours and style that i thought suited him best and then he paid a deposit we showed the men and they liked them and he will be going on his own with the men to have their fittings etc. I just helped him pick the right shades to match our colour scheme and he really had his heart set on the tails jacket but it just didn't suit him (he pointed it out i just thought it) and the shop ass was saying well if it is what you wnated then have it- just because it was the dearer one. So was a god job i was there for moral support.

I helped OH pick his. He is so laid back with clothes and his Aussie brother is moaning it is all too formal so I had to ensure he didn't cave in to him and end up in boardies and T shirts. I helped pick the suit, waistcoat and will choose colours for the Ruche and Hanky too so it blends with the colour scheme.

I went with my OH this weekend to help him choose the suits he choose most of it and just asked my opinion on suit colours and the waistcoats for him and his bestman (they are wearing different form everyone else). He will go back with his grooms party to get measured up.

My h2b isn't having a best man and isn't close with his dad (he lives mostly in Spain!), so we went looking together. actually walked past a shop in town just before xmas and found they had a sale on, called in and found one he liked and worked with what i had in mind - bargain @ £65 for suit, shirt and belt!!

I think it would be fine if your OH wants you there.

I think at least for some weddings the bride picks that stuff too (up to the couple IMO). My fiance was best man at a wedding about a year ago and the bride and I were both in the shop (I had no role, I was just there)- no one looked at us funny.
