Can i please pick your brains?!?!?!

AutumnRose, 1 February, 2010 at 18:50 Posted on Planning 0 11

Now i know you ladies are fab for coming up with inspirational ideas but i'm about to throw a random one at you!!!!

I've got and always had horses, H2B isn't horsey at all but has learned to live with it and gets fairly involved now. I compete on a national level and it's a big part of my/our lives.

I somehow want to include horses in the day, nothing major like a horse and cart but just get a couple of subtle references in somewhere!!!! H2B has banned me from having my horse at the venue even though i think he'd look fab in the pics with flowers in his mane!!!! Haha...........

Was thinking of maybe doing this with the favours as i've not decided what they'll be yet. My non-imaginative brain can only come up with horse shaped chocolates or similar which isn't hugely exciting!!!! Also thought about horse shoes but they are a weddingy thing anyway so not really specific to making it about our lives......

Any ideas gratefully received and considered!!!!!!!!!!!

How about naming the tables after horses you have owned or breeds with pics? x

    Thanks for the replies.

Cookies was something i though of but then i though i'd probably have to make them really close to the day to be fresh and don't know if i want to be making cookies 2 days before the wedding.

Table centres and numbers i've already got ideas for which i really love and don't want to change........but perhaps i need to to fit in anything horsey!!!

I should probably have thought about this earlier!!!!!!

Hi there, I'm really horsey too so know what it's like! I'll be looking for a new horse shortly ?. Could you make time to see your horse the morning of the wedding incorporate your bridal preparations ie. have some pictures taken with horse (see if a friend would plait him up etc) before leaving for the venue unless of course you're getting ready at the venue. A cake topper is a good idea - with you in a wedding dress side saddle on a horse (same colour as yours) with hubby standing next to you with a lead rein in his hand ?

The yard is totally out of the way so i dont think that'd work although i would have so loved him in some of the pics!!!

I like the cake topper idea....i wonder if you can get personalised ones as he's quite an unusual coloured.....it's a good idea though will look into it!!!

One of my friends had her horses shoe polished up and I think varnished , and had some flowers on it. It was given to her by her pageboy and she loved it.

One wedding I decorated had each table named after a Grand National winner and for entertainment between day and evening they had a four race card - the one where they show races on a big screen and people bet on it - the ushers ran it, and they gave everyone monopoly money to bet with.

Also they used her horses old shoes as part of the table decorations- (they were the balloon weights) but you could ribbon them up and somehow fix your table numbers/names to them??
