When i woke it was raining.

when i went to the salon it was raining

when I was coming out of the salon it was raining.

when I was having my photos on the lawn it was also raining. Hence my spott brolly.........

when the cars turned up it stopped raining.

when we came out of the church at 2.40 it was drying up and by 3pm the sun was trying to peek out of the clouds just in time for our wedding photos.......it never rained again.

Although i was a bit gloomy and moody on seeing the rain, I can honestly say that it DID NOT RUIN OUR WEDDING DAY, I was too excited! Dont know where they are but had some funny outdoor rain shots....

    it will be fine!

I say - no it won't ruin your day (unless you were planning to get married outside in the open that is!!).

We were lucky and had it dry but the only time we were outside was straight after the wedding for some pictures which could have been taken under an umbrella or inside.

Try not to worry too much but I know thats difficult - I did the weather checks constantly too

It was a lovely day for us, until we went to leave the church and it was raining! I was prepared and had some 'wedding umberella's' so it wasn't too bad but it did mean we didnt have any photo's with EVERYONE in, because most people just wanted to go and get in the shelter. Although, in a way I'm quite glad it rained as I got to make use of my lovely brolly's :-) You can't change the weather so I wouldn'y worry about it too much, just be prepared for rain and have some brollys handy.

I've been stressing over the weather and I'm not getting married til next July! We will be getting married outdoors so obviously I want glorious weather, but with the weather we've had this July I'll be grateful if it just stays dry! Myself & h2b have accepted that this is Britain and it will be impossible to predict what kind of day it will be. If it does rain we will marry indoors instead (venue sets it up inside & out), and hopefully it will ease off before the photographer leaves so we can get some piccys outside.

My advice is to ignore the weather forecast - it was supposed to rain here today yet it has been sunny and dry. Also get yourself a nice big umbrella (if you haven't already). You know how it always rains when you don't take your brolly out? They can make some great pics too, rain or shine ?

Im getting married in march so im expecting rain! We chose a venue where it all happens in one place to avoid going out side!

a friend got married in May and it poured the day b4 and the forcast predicted rain on the day, which it did all morning until we left the hotel to walk to the hotel and like magic it stopped and the sun came out!

I would totally agree with this. The most important fact of the day is that you are getting married...for better or worse, for richer or poorer......no mention about the weather in these classic lines.

I'm getting married in september this year and have foolishly started checking long range weather forecast. One site side wetter than average the other siad drier than average. So now I am just accepting what will be will be and I certainly can't change it, although I will not be singing in the shower that morning.

My parents got married at the end of April many moons ago. The day before was freakishly hot for the time of year. They woke on their wedding morning to everywhere coverd in snow and power cut. They still say it was all they could have wanted from their wedding day.

Glad your rehersal went well. And good luck for the big day xxx

    WSS!!

I didn't look at the weather forcast at all - there's nothing you can do about it so why worry. Just make sure you have ideas for photos and drinks receptions inside if needed. Every time there was a day which was bright and dry I'd say "this would do me, as long as it doesn't rain!"

We were VERY lucky with the weather - it was the hottest day of the year and clear blue skies - not a cloud in sight! All week people kept telling me it was "supposed to be nice this weekend" but I didn't want to hear it.

So - step away from the weather forecast and just enjoy your day!!

I am hoping for snow (light dusting please, not this years blizzards!)

But seriously, I dont think so, just cover all bases. It might be disappointing for it to rain but I dont think it could ruin your wedding day x

    thankyou all!

In a word No. Your venue will have plans in place for all types of weather situations so don't worry & just enjoy your day. The weather is one thing you have no control over. After the big day you will sit back & think to yourself " What was I worried about that day was perfect".

When we woke up we had our own personal grey ash cloud! By the time we left we had blue skys. Very glad it didn't rain otherwise we would have had an indoor waterfall between the two marquees lol!!

I got married 6 years ago on 26th June... I really would have thought that we would get beautiful weather (for at least part of the day) but it chucked it down all day, well apart from about 20 mins late afternoon.

The day before had been fab weather & the blooming day after was baking hot too.

I was gutted on the morning of my wedding when I looked outside at the rain pouring down, my heart really did sink Smiley surprise(

I can honestly say though that it did NOT spoil my day one little bit, I had the most amazing day & wish I could do it all over again, even if it meant doing it all in the rain again... Its not the weather that makes a wedding, its the people around you & the fact that you are going to be married to the one person who means the most to you in the whole wide world.

In some countries (like Italy) it is considered good luck if it rains on your wedding day, so I figure with the amount of rain we had, that I am due a big bag full of good luck for the rest of my married life..lol

pardon the pun - but i dont think that rain would put too much of a dampener on the day. It would be fab to have a glorious day, but i think you will be sooo caught up in the moment and the day, that you wont even think about it!

Totally agree. I don't believe anything other than my h2b not turning up or serious illness could have ruined the day. It's only rain so it isn't going to do anything other than change some photographs. If it had rained on our day than the £100 we had paid to have photographs taken at a local castle would have been wasted but so be it. I honestly wouldn't have cared cos I was so happy in our little happy bubble that nothing could have touched us.
